Seriously??? A couple of deep post seasons and you think you're too good for the league? You believe the MVC owes you a closer venue come conference tourney time because of a few successful seasons? Not to take anything away from the recent success of the program, but you act as if WSU has been in the ranks of high mid-major programs for ages and that they're entitled something better. Please! Art...Art...When was the last time your school won the All Sports trophy (I'm guessing not recently, we win it every year)? When was the last time your basketball team made the Final 4 (If you're not an ISU fan this should be interesting)? When was the last time your school won a NCAA tournament championship in any sport (I'm guessing never)? When was the last time your basketball team completed the regular season undefeated (Again, never)? We have every right to be on a high horse, we're the flagship university that's bringing any kind of press to this low rent conference. You're lucky to be associated with us. We give your school a chance at national exposure with a beatdown on ESPN or CBS twice a year.

WSU fans over the last 6 years have spent their money traveling to St Louis (I've been the last 10), this year was the perfect example of how all the other schools have given up...their attendance numbers were pathetic. The majority of fans attending the tournament have the furthest to travel. Maybe if the closer ones showed some support we wouldn't have an argument.

Hey Art, you know why the Doug Gottliebs of the world were bagging on Wichita State's schedule last year? It wasn't because WSU scheduled softly. The Shockers' non-conference schedule ranked in the 30s, I believe. No, people like DG questioned the legitimacy of the Shockers because the Valley was AWFUL last year. That's not just a recent phenomenon, either. You wanna know the last time a Valley team not named Wichita State got an at-large bid? 2007. Try spinning that one, pal.

The thing that still has me laughing from all of this is the part where Elgin tried to say that the Union Station has "transformed". Well he's right, because of the 7 years I've been attending the tournament, Union Station has gotten worse and worse. Even during the tournament, it's still a ghost town except for that little food court area.

Yes Art, I do think we are better than the MVC, much better and based how little effort the other valley teams want to put in their basketball program, It is time for us to make like Creighton and find another home. Sorry if that hit you wrong but that is just the reality.

But you see, you have to have options. If the Mountain West thingy never develops what can you do? Fairly or unfairly, WSU cannot leverage the Valley at the current moment. Just facts.

I would love to have the thing in KC. It would be so much better. Power and Light versus Union Station. But the eastern bloc still has all the power.

Go look up men's basketball budgets and attendance figures for WSU and the rest of the MVC, and then do the same for say the MWC, NBE, and the AAC. If you are honest with yourself after looking at those metrics you'll see why we're the odd ducks in the MVC, and our comparable programs lie elsewhere. Hell, we pay 3G more then the entire men's basketball budget of ISU Blue, and nearly as much as about half of the remaining schools.

The SBC is a step or two below the Valley in basketball but it is a highly underrated football conference when you consider their current membership. If we make the decision to step up to FBS, they will have us.
