  • History. Tradition.

The 2 reasons that keep getting brought up by Elgin as to why St. Louis was chosen. I am going to blow a freaking gasket.

    • There is your Historic question!

      • "Hey guys! You know the place that we've had this thing the last 23 years. Well we're gonna keep having it there! We aren't gonna change anything. Historic!"

        • So...the fact that STL will have hosted longer than KC hosted the Big 8 makes this historic? I'm about to throw something and break one of the windows in my office.

I freaking cracked up when he brought up Union Station's transformation. I'm not even sure of his intention on that one.

            • Another reason to hightail ourselves out of the MVC, so Bush league (no pun intended)

Are they now? Good, at least it's being occupied by someone.

Eastman Kodak kept focusing on film because that's what the company was founded on and was good at - it was tradition.... part of its history. Then the company flopped. Big time.

History and tradition are important, but shouldn't be the only things to guide leaders in decision making. Do you think the city of St. Louis actually cares about Arch Madness? If during the Valley Tournament, someone were to ask some random schlum what was happening in St. Louis that weekend, I would venture to guess that a fairly high percentage would have absolutely zero idea that the MVC tournament was there.

                    • I found a picture of the only people that are happy that the tournament is staying in STL.

That was my "question". Except they didn't add the sarcasm that I intended to go along with it. And didn't even mention my hashtag.

But if the reporters weren't going to ask it, I was happy to help out.
Three things in life are constant- death, taxes, and Creighton losing in the first weekend of the tournament.

                        AAC or Bust!

                        • As much as I would like to see the tournament rotate... The tournament has been very successful in STL.

                            Wait for it.

I have to take a dump.

Lol.. I was just there last month, and I didn't see anything particularly good about it. Just people hanging around, trying to buy or sell you metrolink tickets, and smoking weed in public.

"has been" and "very" are big keys. The "has been" revolved around CU, SIU and WSU being good. CU is gone and SIU sucks. It was "very" good for about 2 years in the mid-2000s, 7-8 years ago. This league continues to prove it has no foresight.
