  • Cle's mother was fortunate enough to be able to get out of NYC. She's said that she wanted to do that for her family. It appears Mother may have known best. I don't think NYC was a good destination for Cle.

    • Cle is still living in or around NY and can be seen balling on the street courts from time to time.

      • Might be planning to play for the Knicks D League team for the season. Hard telling until the season actually gets going.

        • Just saw this pop up...

          Ian Begley
          ESPN Staff Writer

Cleanthony Early, a 2014 Knicks' 2nd-round pick, has agreed to a contract with the club and is expected start the season with their D-League team, sources confirmed to ESPN. Early is rehabilitating from a hamstring injury. If healthy, he would have been in training camp with the Knicks battling for a roster spot. Early's deal was first reported by the Vertical.

          • Begley goes on to say that the contract is non-guaranteed. Also says that Cle received inquiries from other teams but wanted to stay with Knicks.

            • Cle needs to get out of NYC and go somewhere he can play

              • I think Hornacek's offense could help Cle. He needs to improve his ball-handling skills though.

                • Hopefully the troubles he's had the last year will be something that he can use for positive motivation, and he will be able to make it back into the big league, where I and many others believe he should be eventually.

                    Fixed.

Well, that was my first reaction. If Ron makes the team, he should be a big, big help should Cle get called up.

                    • Ron and Cle both need a new team. 3 out of 4 former Shockers having to go to New York in recent years is just bad luck.

                      • I do not understand why the Baker/Knicks matchup happened. The player type and the franchise ideology could not be more at odds.

I think this has something to do with it.

It always makes me question how much I should rail on Knicks leadership. They obviously like something about the way HCGM players play the game.

Perhaps. I guess they know that other teams might utilize those skills on the court to win games. And, hell, the Knicks have these 10 bench spots that aren't getting used for anything, so why not just stockpile 'winners' so other teams don't have them.

I think Ron actually fits the type of triangle offense and overall philosophy Phil Jackson is known for.
