That's North Carolina Central's head coach, LeVelle Moton.
Coach Moton has a great deal of admiration and respect for Coach Marshall.

If he leaves NCC, he ain't going north.

North Carolina Central coach LeVelle Moton is preparing his Eagles to face Iowa State on Friday in the NCAA tournament without his family by his side in San Antonio.

Didn't see this before the tournament.

This will be a coup of epic proportions. Even bigger than Coach Forbes.

If you haven't read much into Coach Moton, you should do some research.

Start with Levelle Moton Jerry Stackhouse

it's almost too good to be true. but if moton did come to wichita state, he could have nearly any job opening he wanted in two years. already great coach that gets his players to run thru brick walls picks up two more years under the natural (marshall)? oh, yeah.

It's a very interesting notion. How many times has a division 1 coach took an assistant coaching job without being fired?

I think it's a long shot. He could probably get a higher HC job somewhere.

Here's a couple of examples, however I believe both of these guys were/are technically 'Head-Coach-In-Waiting'.

Matt Painter - SIU to Purdue
Tim Jankovich - ISUR to SMU

What about the assistant from Louisville that came in to visit in October? Marshall said he had offered him a job and that they go back a long way c

                    • I would think getting LeVelle Moton would be a long shot as well.
He would be a great head coach for any team looking for a new coach.

If one of them don't take him, they are foolish and
If he has interest we should think hard about getting him.

He sounds like a great coach and person.

You must make a short term sacrifice if you want long term success...

Now that sounds like someone taking one step back for 2 forward.

                            • I would hope that taking an assistant's job at Wichita State isn't a "sacrifice."

I think it's fair to say stepping down from a head coaching job to take the WSU assistant position is a sacrifice in order to land a better head coaching job in a couple years. I also really really hope this happens as Ive got tremendous respect for what Coach Moton was doing at NCCU.
