Jamar, what exactly is your point with this threads? While I know message boards aren't an exact reflection of a fan base, there are plenty of negative (to put it mildly) posts about WSU over oh Phog.net too.

Yes, there are plenty of KU fans that like and appreciate WSU and plenty that do not.

Did you catch all of the posts saying WSU choked?

Edit: Here's a nugget I found in about 10 seconds on a thread about Shaka Smart:

Relic wrote: He is not really as hot a commodity as before and the longer he stays at VCU, the quicker he will be forgotten.

This is something Marshall needs to reconcile with. He coached the hell out of that team this year, but Early is gone and this could be the highest profile he gets. If he doesn't strike now, he'll be stuck down there, and no one wants to be stuck in Wichita.

I've had overwhelmingly positive support today. Most people think this is the best basketball game they've seen this year.

And most people agree if UK plays like this, they win the whole thing.

So since the opinions being expressed about WSU on the phog are positive, you are not interested in what others are saying? But heaven forbid someone says something remotely negative or balanced they're the devil. If it matters that they say something negative then why would it not matter when something positive is expressed?

        Just a question.

I'm pretty tired of the thin skinned ******* on this board. You've all become a gaggle of "another shockers" complaining about Lutz. If someone doesn't totally flatulate praise for WSU, they're "trolls" and need to leave.

I normally think JH4P is full of **** and get tired of his statistical mambojambo, but damnit if he isn't at least a breath of fresh air amongst all the fragile hivemind around here.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I sat in a section of KU fans. They were jealous of our guard play and were in awe of Early. I heard comments like "why can't we find guys like VanVleet and Baker". Most of these people have never seen the Shox play, so it's easy to critcize or make fun of little brother. I think this game was an eye opener for a nation of fans and media. It will pay dividends for us getting respect going forward and proved that last year was no fluke and HCGM's brand of basketball isn't going away.

What? I am somewhat interested in both. I was responding to the OP.

Lighten up Francis. I thought my point was clear. I was asking Jamar what his point was in the original post. I think I was clear: there are plenty of KU fans that like and respect WSU and plenty that do not.

His point was stated in his opening paragraph: "I repeat... This thread is not about KU. I stole comments from KU's message board during our game with Kentucky, but this isn't about KU. This is about the respect and interest that WSU gained yesterday. Just read the following quotes taken directly from KU's board and think about how many thousands, make that millions, more were posted or talked about by fans around the country. Ignore the trolls. They are loud and try to appear to be the majority. The fact is that most of the country came away impressed with our Shox yesterday and the game was a gigantic commercial that money could not buy."

Of course WSU gained a lot of national respect yesterday, ironically in a loss. I've heard it from John Feinstein, Gary Parish, Matt Norlander, Jim Rome. I found it a bit odd to go to the KU board, that's all.

And I just heard some great things from Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon, but it is sure good to know there were some positive comments on Phog.net!

I don't necessarily agree with the specifics, but I agree with the sentiment. I was hoping this topic wouldn't devolve into what it has, but I knew it was inevitable. In what is arguably the greatest season in Shocker basketball history, it felt like ShockerNet was flooded with claims of long-time posters being "BCS trolls", starting off wars of personal insults to the point that anyone who tried to say anything other than pure unadulterated Shocker love, even if reasonable, were attacked and labelled.

Maybe I'm just getting tired and soft in my middle-age years but I don't have the tolerance for that kind of hate and in-fighting anymore. It's not even fun to bash Creighton (yes, you can gasp in horror now). Why bother when I can just come here and watch Shocker fans bash each other to the point of threads being started by metaphorically blood-thirsty spectators to encourage it. It's exhausting and thoroughly unenjoyable to the point I'm considering becoming a part-time lurker.

Not that anyone would care, but I'm guessing there may be a few others who feel the same way. I don't know, maybe not. Perhaps I'm just delusional. I wouldn't rule it out.

I thought my point was obvious. Fans of other teams took notice yesterday. Even those lousy, no good, jerks up North (which describes 100% of KU fans if you were to believe everything you read on this board) had a lot of positive things to say. Sure, some of them had negative things to say too. I addressed them when I said to ignore the trolls. My point wasn't to say that all the trolls disappeared. Obviously, they will always exists.

I just thought a feel good thread showing some of "the haters", the "who cares about WSU?", the "who is WSU?", and many other groups having some good things to say might be well appreciated on a day like today. Like I said in my originial post, those comments are only a small percentage of the thousands, make that millions of positive posts and comments around the country yesterday. WSU may have lost, but they impressed a heck of a lot of non-WSU fans. People who had no reason to be specifically interested in WSU going into the day ended the day thinking "Wow, that was a good team and some good basketball!" And lets not forget that if potential recruits watched us, maybe we moved up their list a little bit.

Summary: Hope this thread encouraged everyone a little. No hidden agenda. Simple as that.
