    • I am surprised that Marquette is a better job than UT.

      • Fans at Marquette won't want Cuonzo fired at the first loss

It's a good time for Cuonzo to negotiate an extension and a raise.

          • There was a reason that Buzz left. Hope Martin really knows what it was. It all depends on whether Martin is happy at Tennessee and, of course, the money. Marquette has money to spend. We all know the mindset of Tennessee fans. You lose a couple of games and they are calling for your head. Martin took Tennessee to the Sweet 16 when it didn't even look like they were going to get into the tournament. That should count for something with the administration. If he does take the leap, Tennessee fans can only blame themselves. As Marshall has said many times - you can't buy happy.

            • Tennessee was one basket away from being in the Elite 8. The AD and President need to keep and support Martin. I don't view Marquette as a step up either.

              • Its not a bcs school but is more willing to spend money on a basketball coach than ut is. Depends on how CM perceives the job and what he wants to accomplish.

They can target him. There is no way that they get him.

#pipedream I can count on one hand (after sticking it in a blender) the jobs HCGM would leave WSU for. Duke would fit his style, UK wouldn't. UK wants one and dones, run and gun offense. Duke likes coaches to groom players. I don't think Indiana fits Marshall. Florida maybe, but that would be a rather large surprise. Duke is the only job I would worry about. HCGM would rule CBB with an iron fist from the Duke throne. He could cherry pick recruits, and get exactly who he wants, and that team would be a monster. That only comes at 3 programs- Duke, UK, KU. KU has pissed HCGM off, thats a no go, UK doesn't want his style, Duke is the only one that makes sense. Plus it's North Carolina, which is practically home for him. BTW, Coach K is 67. He has less than 10 years left. Marshall is 51, has ~25 years of coaching left.

                      TL;DR- Worry about Duke.

                        • HCGM won't wait until 75 to retire. He has been very upfront that he wants to retire at a reasonable age and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Yes, that's what he has stated publicly, although I suppose that could change. But based on his public comments I see Gregg coaching to about age 62 then taking a nice TV commentary job in his "retirement".

                            • Marshall made some interesting comments on KWCH that indicated that he wasn't going anywhere as long as he was happy. Also indicated that Chris Jan's may have left psrtially because he realized that Gregg was probably not going anywhere.
