Bowling Green might be an intriguing opening in regards to Chris Jans.

Good for Bruce Pearl. I for one have always liked Pearl. He is a good coach and from what I have read about him I believe he is a pretty good guy. I don't think he got a fair shake with the BBQ incident. He was actually high on my list of possible head coaches to replace 3G if he ever left (lets all pray that's not going to happen anytime soon!).

Bruce is Bruce and I would NEVER want him coaching at Wichita State University. What he did to his assistants (Forbes) is intolerable and unacceptable.

If you think what he did to Forbes and his own assistants is intolerable and unacceptable, I suggest you check out what he did to Illinois's Jimmy Collins in the late '80s...

Hell yes I still hate the man for something that happened when I was only an infant :D I've said it before, but I'll try keeping my comments about him to a minimum on here since it is a vendetta as an Illinois fan, and has nothing to do with WSU. But it's almost impossible on days like today. Especially when I see others saying he's a pretty good guy. Under no circumstances do you retain the right to be called "a pretty good guy" when you secretly record phone calls with recruits with the sole intent of trying to destroy a rival school because they got the recruit and you didn't (making serious allegations that were never substantiated), and commit enough violations 20+ years later to be given a show cause penalty.

I'm not saying what he did in lying to the NCAA wasn't wrong. He admitted to his errors and he paid for it. It all stemmed from a minor recruiting violation that would of barely been news worthy if he wouldn't of lied about it. I also feel for his assistants to get sanctions after the investigation means their hands weren't completely clean in the situation. They obviously were apart of the cover up enough to get in trouble. Pearl admits he screwed up and he took the punishment. I don't know enough about the guy to fully comment on him. And maybe I am wrong and he is a POS.

I'll believe that Pearl is truly sorry when I hear that he sends a 6 figure check to Steve Forbes.

Also, with the prospect of Jans leaving soon for his own HCing job, Forbes' stock will go up with our program and for the future.

Steve Forbes won't be leaving until after next season at the earliest. 3G said recently that he asked for and received a 2-year commitment from Steve and he expects that Steve will honor that commitment. I'm sure after Dana Ford went back on his word, that 3G made it clear to Steve that he expects that commitment to be honored.

If Steve were to break his commitment as Dana did, then I say let him go to Auburn. Birds of a Feather and all.

Personally, I would be very surprised if Steve leaves WSU for another assistant coaching job as long as 3G is at WSU. I would think his next move down the line would be as a head coach somewhere.

You have to believe that Chris Jans will be a pretty hot commodity for a lot of programs non-BCS programs. If DePaul was smart they would make a move for Chris although I don't know what contract issues they may have with Coach Purnell.

Wake Forest just opened. Probably the best opening right now.

That's great for Shaka Smart, unless he wants to wait for Florida.

Or unless they want Gaudio back.

I hope Shaka stays put. He's got a great thing going at VCU, and only going to get better now that they're in the A10. The Wake Forest job would be a tough one. Can you imagine having to recruit against NC and Duke every year!? It's no coincidence that places like NC State and Wake Forest have a rotating door for coaches.
