Not trying to pick a fight here but how much of our turn around was due to Tad Boyle as much or more than Turgeon?

WSU and Reds fan has a point....and it is statistically backed up.

I want HCGM to grow old and retire in this job, but Tad would be on my very short list if he should ever leave.

Tad would have been my choice to replace Mark had he still been on the staff when Mark left. However, I don't see him returning to Wichita State from Colorado. He is doing very well at CU and he is close to home. Hopefully, it's not anything we need to worry about for a long time.

Love the analogy. Right on brother!

The article points out how "underrated" assistant coaches are and I think that is very true (for most schools). There are 3 reasons sitting on the bench in Boulder that had a lot to do with Mark's success at WSU. That Big 5 school is having more success than his. Unfortunately, Mark has "sold his soul" if you will, taking on existing coaches at both a&m and Maryland to hold onto current or prospective players.

Add: I'm glad for Prioleau, very happy for Boyle, and ecstatic for Rohn.

Would not surprise me at all if his coaching career ends soon. Much like Eddie he'd rather retire sooner rather than later after using WSU as a stepping stone for greener pastures.

MT got terrible advice from LB.
MT and LB do not share the same values when it comes to family and sinking roots. MT should have listened to his inner voice.
Shox are better for it though.

Truer words have rarely been spoken. There is no doubt Larry is a great coach. Big time cheater, but still a great coach. Not, however, a great person. I'm sure he's mellowed in his twilight years, but he was a selfish, arrogant ass and while I don't fault Mark for listening to him, I think Mark would consider himself a little happier today if he took @Veritas:' advice and listened to his inner voice instead, no matter the destination or outcome.

I trust Mark's wisdom and decision making a ton more than Larry Brown's. Unfortunately I think loyalty forces Mark to trust Larry more than himself.

Personally, I hope he's able to be successful again.

Bottom line is that Mark lead to Gregg!

I wouldn't be surprised to see him look for gigs in the NBA. Brown isn't in the NBA anymore, but I'm sure he has some pull in some front offices.

Turgeon is a stand up guy. He's also a very rich stand up guy. I wouldn't worry about him too much. I bet he's genuinely happy for WSU and it's continued success under HCGM.

Great line, BOBB -- glad I looked back a page on the thread; I had never seen it before.

No Turgeon, and Marshall might have gotten hired by Creighton! :) Turgeon put us in a place where we were a step up from Winthrop at just the right time. When did McDermott get hired to CU? My head hurts just thinking about it. I mean, if Elgin made the call around the same time he did, but the Valley school who was looking wasn't WSU, who knows which other Valley school would have been the powerhouse....because where ever this man went was going to become a good program.

Which Valley schools were hiring right around the time we hired Marshall, but slightly after? If CU had hired Marshall, I might have jumped off a bridge by now.

Speaking of Creighton, just wait for Creighton to hire Turgeon to complete the circle. If Turgeon can con Maryland into giving him another 3-4 years, it's possible. McDermott sucks and will get fired eventually and we know Creighton likes to hire former MVC coaches who suck in big boy conferences. I'm looking forward to it.

Actually not a bad guess, given that Creighton is no longer in the MVC.
