It would be nice to get a series started with Mizzou as well.

The fact that soccer requires a solid cardio profile doesn't change the reality that it is a god-awful bore to take in as a spectator. The only reason it has grown in this country is due to euro-yuppie suburban helicopter parents. It allows their kids to take part in a "sport" that's only a sliver away from co-ed church league kickball where everyone gets a participation ribbon and a sticker.
It has proliferated around the globe not so much due to its attractiveness as a team competition, but because it is possibly the cheapest sport man has ever invented. Most of the rest of the world doesn't have the disposal income to finance football or baseball, so rolling a bunch of used disposable diapers into a ball bound with duct tape is the best way for third world countries to competitive gauge themselves outside of killing each other. Ironically, they are even able to do that as soccer spectators, so it is really is a perfect, self-contained sport ecosystem for sheetholes around the globe.

You know I have changed my mind, I think that an outdoor game is a great idea but instead of having it in that dump where soccer team plays why not have it at a more manly real sporting venue like the Kansas Motor Speedway!
We really need to get MoValley Johns thoughts on this he is the foremost expert on Soccer in the country and played with Kyle Rote Jr.An “Old West” Texas analysis and summary of Mueller report and Congress’ efforts in one sentence:
"While we recognize that the subject did not actually steal any horses, he is obviously guilty of trying to resist being hanged for it."

KSU's attendance their last 2 events at the Sprint Center was 16,300 and 18,600...Not to mention they've sold out Intrust Bank Arena in our own backyard and we haven't.

Weber was just interviewed on 810 and was asked about the home-and-home with Wichita State and the article from yesterday. I find it interesting that he points out that they considered it for this year but were concerned about their player loss going into this year. He also alludes to this in the article. It would seem that he acknowledges the difficulty in playing the Shox and one of his issues is not wanting to overload their non-conference schedule. At least he seems to be showing our program respect as opposed to simply stating "we having nothing to gain from it"."We can't win at home. We can't win on the road. As the general manager, I just can't figure out where else to play." -Pat Williams

7,000 Shocker fans showed up in Kansas City on a week night to watch the Shockers play BYU (about 6,000 showed up the night before to watch the Shocks play an awful DePaul team). I don't think it wouldn't be that hard to get 10,000 Shocker fans to show up on a weekend to see the Shockers play K-state (or Missouri, or Ku).

Originally posted by WSUwatcher View PostOkay, marty, and so what -- who are the best road warriors in college basketball these days? The Shocks don't care who's cheering against them.
Originally posted by jocoshock View PostAnd 90% of those fans this year were Shocker fans showing up on a Monday and Tuesday evening. If the game were scheduled on weekend, I believe we could put 7-8,000 fans in the Sprint Center. More than enough to represent loud and proud...
Originally posted by Signman View PostDon't know if your attendance numbers are right or not. However, You failed to mention who the other teams were the year K-State was there. How many of those in attendance were actually there to see Duke, Gonzaga or Marquette. I think had the Shockers played Duke & Gonzaga we might have drawn more too.

Well, I was responding to people saying we were going to out number KSU fans.. That's "so what". LOL Has absolutely nothing to do with being road warriors or whatever else.
I completely agree, 90% of 7,000 were Shocker fans...and I'm sure we'll be plenty loud. But doesn't change the fact that I was saying we'll be out numbered.
Don't worry, the numbers are right. You can check the box scores like I did if you don't believe me. I didn't fail to mention anything...If WSU walks in as the #6 team in the nation we'll be ranked plenty high to provide the interest and motivation for KSU fans to show up like they always do at the Sprint Center.Kansas is Flat.
