I do this because I must. Our current average margin is 23.5 when I predict a 30 point game. 17 if you only count D1s. Can't change anything now.

The two SLU games I've watched this year have been really, really ugly. They are an effective team who gets after it on defense, but their perimeter shooting is mediocre and the Billikens really miss Mitchell's ability to slash to the hoop. His absence has probably hurt Jett the most.

Their big men are serviceable but not outstanding (a slight step down from BYU's Mika).



SLU also likes to pack it in on their halfcourt D and make you beat them from the outside. We might be taking a lot of 3s in this one. To channel John Madden, if we make enough of them then we will win.

So in other words, they sound a lot like us and expect a GRIND of a basketball game.

I'm not making a prediction. I do think we have a better chance to win every game we play this year if FVV plays a little more selfish, as in driving to the basket a little more and a couple more shots and CE doesn't look like he is hunting his shot several times during the course of the game.

For those of you driving home from STL on Sunday late afternoon, I just want to give you a friendly reminder to be sure to take 470 around KC rather than 435. If you hit the 435-70 interchange around 6:30-7:00, you'll be in for a massive traffic jam from people leaving the Chiefs-Broncos game. Just helpin' y'all out.

I wonder which team will be more likely to exceed their usual offensive production, the team facing Tekele Cotton or the team who doesn't have to face him.

With us it is all about what shoots the shot and what type of shot it is. Baker shooting a kick out? Three points every time. Early shooting a pull-up 26 footer? Clang. Problem is that Early has shot 7-31, Wiggins has shot 5-23, and Wessel has gone from being our best shooter to having not made a three yet (0-6).

If Wiggins or Wessel gets back up to form we'll be fine. If Early gets up in the mid 30s we'll be fine. The problem is two many bad threes, especially from Early. Van Vleet, Baker, and Cotton are all good. Saint Louis has Austin McBroom, who has shot 11-27 on the season. Other than that none of their major players are good shooters (Tanner Lancoma is 3-6 on the season). We have the potential to be a much better 3PT shooting team if we play smarter and take better shots, and have our better shooters taking a large percentage of those shots.
