The real issue here is that the birds invent stuff to hate even though Baker hasn't done a thing wrong and Marshall hasn't done a thing wrong. All the while Normal has done A LOT of questionable things... Yet it is twisted into our people having a problem...

I understand the Marshall thing. I did not have a good impression of Gregg watching TV interviews. Can't put a finger on it, but just seemed like a "Philadelphia lawyer" type. How wrong and foolish I was. I met the man, and what a pleasure! He is most personableand gives his audience full and complete attention. Nothing whatsoever gimmicky about Gregg Marshall. If you don't believe it before you mett and visit with him, you WILL BELIEVE it after you've had that opportunity. And Gregg will afford anybody that opportunity, no minimal conditions to satisfy.

he does everything right. everything. even his interviews, where the spoiled rotten media get their panties in a huff over it, when he doesn't back down from their smirks. the shockers lost twice to eu and cu last year- how did he right that?

isu should be so lucky to EVER have a coach like him. donewald was good, real good, but he's like a pimple on marshall's a**. but if you don't like him personally, that's on you, and, really, who cares about that petty observation anyway? marshall did a LOT for the mvc last year. you'll be feeling it this year.

Ps.... I wont fall in love with Baker. Ever since after you guys beat OSU last season and he said something along the lines of "Man this is great.... im a really humble kid". I don't doubt he is but you just don't call yourself humble IMO. Maybe he should've worded it like "Im humbled to be here" or "This is a humbling moment" (just me being nitpicky there)

I was really disappointed in Ron's response also. When she asked the question - he should have punched her in the face and then resisted arrest. I'm sure you would have fallen in love with him then

The only "humble" quote I remember frm Ron was after we had just eliminated the No. 1 seed in the West Region (Gonzaga) which also happened to be the NO. 1 RANKED TEAM IN ALL THE LAND. Ron, as one of the stars of that win was being interviewed on National TV for the first time. The female interviewer, after talking with Ron for a few minutes on live TV about the Shockers and their run, said "You've got to look more excited Ron -- this is a big deal." To which Ron (with a laugh in his voice) replied "Yeah. I'm just a humble kid." You need to listen to more of Ron's interviews this year. I think you will begin to understand that he IS a humble kid and he really doesn't get over the moon about anything. He is pretty calm on the court and off. I see nothing wrong with that. I've talked with several people who personally know him and they tell me he is a great kid. Please don't judge him by one quote (that I think maybe you have misinterpreted).

I'm not buying this "we're creating a rivalry" crap. They hate Marshall. Jans used to be one of theirs. There's a lot of hatred for the Shox coming out of the RedBirds camp.

I haven't seen that level of hate from Shox fans for RedBird nation, even though, from our perspective, we have more reason for that than they do. For them, they want to make it a rivalry. Please do. Get a team that's good enough to give us a consitent fight - not just beat us from time to time if we overlook them.

From ShockerNation, it's not even close to approaching a rivalry in the forseeable future. We don't like them, but that doesn't make a rivalry.

There are a decent number of reasonable RedBird fans - even on the various message board. They are outnumbered and outshouted by the others.

WSU fans did a little of the same thing back in the 90s. Our players were taking cars for joy rides and toting guns into the locker room, but we still cast stones at other programs plenty back then.

Hating on other programs is a lot more fun than discussing your own when things are that bad. And make no mistake, things really are that bad in Normal.

Michael Wiggins, and I was inclined to believe him. He was in my Calculus III class the semester before that happened. He ALWAYS made it to class, he ALWAYS contributed to class, and he had a solid A.

Nice guy, personable guy, serious about class. When that story broke, I was dumbfounded. THAT'S how out-of-character it was with the guy I had known.

There is no such thing as a Chiefs/Raiders rivalry. Sure, they think as much in Kansas City, but c'mon, every AFC West team likes to claim the Raiders as their rival. San Diego, Denver and Kansas City. Everybody hates the effing Raiders. With that, nobody is their rival. You can't have a rivalry when every team in your division claims it! Hell, even the Texans claim Denver as a rivalry game if they are scheduled to play. Oakland is one of the few teams that has no rivalries because everybody hates the Raiders.

Denver is Kansas City's rival, period.
