Depends on whether they are holding back any more lower bowl seats.

        • The lower bowl is back to being basically sold out. 5 scattered individual seats remain.

Of the 4,737 upper bowl seats left, only 798 are $22 seats. The other 3,939 are $12 tickets.

          • I about wrecked my car today. I was driving downtown and drove across Waterman right in front of the arena. There I saw all of these purple and white banners saying something about "Paint Wichita Purple". I saw nothing about mentioning the Wichita State game. The WSU game is a week BEFORE the Kstate game. Why is there all of this promotion downtown for the Kstate game? It seems like they should be promoting the Shocker game right now and wait until after the WSU game before they hang up any stupid Purple Kstate banners (it at all). If you drive across Waterman you can't miss the Kstate banners. It also means Shocker fans will have to pass under all these banners when they go to the Tennessee game. It is utterly disgusting. It makes me want to drive to Manhattan and paint their downtown Black and Yellow.

Your answer is in who "they" is. It's probably not IBA, but the K St/Gonzaga promoter and K St. After the Mild Kittens recent performance, they may have gone into panic mode. Of course, this does not keep the WSU/TN promoter and WSU from doing something about this. If it is IBA, you are very correct in saying it is utterly disgusting. Perhaps someone has the answer to who the culprit is. Of course, either way, it doesn't keep WSU fans from bugging the heck out of IBA and complaining in print and other media.

KSU is paying for those banners to be put into place. WSU was given an option and has yet to come back on it.

They are hanging from the poles right in front of the IBA (on IBA property). These aren't like paid for billboards set up around town, they are on IBA property and every one who attends any event at the IBA will be passing by, around and under these things.

IBA can't sell advertising on their own property?

As I said, if IBA is doing it and spending the money, you've got a legit complaint, as should WSU.

If someone else is spending the money and adding to IBA's confers, then WSU/promoter/whoever needs to fight fire with fire.

If this is correct, WSU fans need to contact WSU's athletic department about how it makes the Shockers look.

                      • It all depends on how much IBA is charging for the advertising. If it isn't very expensive, I would say it would be a good idea for WSU to get the banners even though we won't need it to sell tickets. If IBA is charging through the nose, let KSU be the school that has to use up their athletic department dollars because they don't have a good enough product to build excitement for their game organically.

                              • A good barometer will ultimately be how the prices on StubHub rise and fall as the games approach. Right now tickets for the Shocker game start at $35 on StubHub, K-State tix start at $27. This might be an interesting metric to follow the next few weeks.
