KWCH is reporting an AEDS was used at Koch.

KWCH is confirming DJ Bowles. But they did say his parents have talked to him, so that is encouraging.

With all the medical privacy rules, we will know nothing other than general condition until the athletic department releases something that Bowles has autohorized them to release.

Don't expect anything really informative for a minimum of 48 to 72 hours. It's going to take that long to get a medical diagnosis, confirmation of that diagnosis, and some private time for D.J. before he authorizes a release of anything definitive. Could be longer than that.

It occurs to me that his parents and family are 1500 miles away. We might say a prayer for them as well. I can't imagine if it was my daughter and I was half a country away.
Wonderful post, Doc -- can't imagine you've ever done better. And I couldn't agree more. Amen, amen, amen.

I'm I correct that a AEDS can be used, but no shock is given? Guess I'm just hoping that was the case.

It was said on a couple of the TV sportscasts that he's in good spirits.

Yes I believe you are correct. It is an automatic device that analyzes the heart rhythm and decided whether a shock is need or not. If you believe KWCH reporting they were using the "revived" word FWIW.

Yes. The AEDS will advise you to give a shock, if it feels, based on the reading, that a shock is necessary. A shock may or may not have been given.

Prayers to DJ Bowles. Hopefully it is nothing really serious in the long term.

Prayers to everyone who experienced that. DJ please get better. To those who witnessed this happen, thoughts to you as well. Had to be utterly frightening to see your friend go down.

Patience, my young grasshoppers. Trusting the accuracy of our local TV sports reporters about medical nuances, or speculating about what they report, is hazardous in its own right.

Better to wait and find out the real story once it comes out more fully and officially from someone who isn't just in a hurry to get "news" out there -- after all, what good would it really do anyone here to know the truth now (assuming that would even be possible, which it almost certainly isn't) as opposed to a day or two or three from now?
