Also, the hockey one has a 90' top and a 58' bottom ring. According to the release WSU will have a 98' top and a 61' bottom ring.
The displays are also a higher definition. The UM display has 10mm pixel spacing. The WSU one will have 6mm pixel spacing.
So what this all means is we are going to have the sweetest dance cam video and advertising in the NCAA, because we can't show replays. I know I keep going all Debbie Downer, but the inability to utilize this equipment for what it's really designed for is going to be very frustrating.
Are we sure this isn't an NCAA rule, and not an MVC rule?
The MVC has mandated that no replay that is possibly inflammatory can be used. Its designed to keep the natives from going bat shat after a horrible call. But it is a MVC rule.

I'm paying good money to go bat shat. :)
At least show us awesome dunk and made basket replays right after the play. They even hold those off until timeout or halftime or whatever. I think they could do a lot more with the replay without violating MVC gestapo policies.

No, I don't know. I just read on here some time ago that it's the MVC so I rolled with it..
If it is a MVC rule, I wonder if other conferences have the same rules because I've been to games elsewhere and not seen controversial replays. I bet it's pretty common not to show those.
These displays can show one large image to highlight live video and instant replays, but can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.
great... more ad space for spangles...

So what does this mean for ShockerVision? haha
My hope is that it means the gimmicky stuff shown, say after a basket, will become more of a picture in picture type thing and shockervision won't miss out on the next possession. I haven't watched shockervision for a couple of years, but assume this was still a problem?

As it is we get practically no replays, controversial or not, until way after the game is back under way or a timeout or whatever. Usually if we get a dunk there is a replay 20 seconds into the shot clock when the other team has the ball and you want to watch the play instead of the scoreboard.

That article is specifically referring to football games, I think basketball is different.

Aside from rules differences for replay between the two sports, as a practical matter it is easier to have instant replay in football because of the time breaks between when one play ends and the next play is snapped vs. basketball which has pretty continuous run of play.
