  • I don't think you can say him participating at the camp would have been anything but a positive for him and the program.

Not sure why he didn't choose to go, but this talk about it distancing him from teammates is grasping at ways to make this sound positive. It was likely an injury or financial.

School work is another possibility. I think Cle previously mentioned that he chose the Durant camp over the traveling team because it took less of his summer, allowing him to get coursework in that he needed for his major.

      • Sorry, but missing the LBJ Skills Academy for anything other than a family emergency, mid to major injury, or other big issue seems completely crazy. If others on the team allow something like that to affect team chemistry, then there are bigger issues. And, missing an additional 3 days of class over the summer would be a minor issue compared to the benefits of attending.

        • Apparently Cle had his reasons for not going. We should just let it be.

          • im sure these camps aren't cheap. I wouldn't be surprised by time the he pays for his hotel, plane ticket, food, and the camp that he would be shelling out over $1,000.

that is your opinion and not that of what appears to be the majority of posters on here. Cole had his reason and that is all we need to know and should accept his decision. Get over yourself.

                  • If the players don't pay for these camps, who does? Somebody has to pay. When you think of who might be interested in paying for this (other than the players), try to find a way that would be cleared by the NCAA.

We will know how this plays out by Marshall's reaction. If Marshall lets it go, so should we.

We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

                    • I still think the most important insight was from the guy who posted earlier that he supposedly missed most of the last day of the KD camp because of Injury. It's possible Cle did not want to work out infront of high profile scouts/execs while not being full strength.

                      Seems plausible enough for me.

Regardless, let's not "armchair" or MMQB this too much.

                        • My stance on this is....

IT'S HIS LIFE AND CAREER, LET HIM CHOOSE HOW HE RUNS IT!!

                            • I think what really happened was Lebron called Cle and told him after watching him at the previous camp that there was nothing he could learn at his camp and just told him not to waste his time. Anyway thats the way I think it went down.

It just sucks that he missed out on the camp, and spinning it as if he didn't go because of missing class (over 4th of july weekend? lol) or team chemistry (again, what?) is dumb. It would have been a great feather in his cap and a nice boost for HCGM on the recruiting trail. No damage done, just opportunities lost.

There's no smoke here. Just a bummer he wasn't able to go.
Yes. I don't know why he didn't go and I don't see any reason on speculating about it. But it stinks that he didn't get to go ... both for the program and for his NBA potential. Obviously we were all hoping he'd be able to go for those positives that would come from it, and missing those positives obviously stinks.

It's not a big deal. Probably won't effect him too much. But it's not a GOOD thing he isn't going. It just is what it is.
