Everyone in the country was convinced Evansville was dreadful. With an RPI of about 100. Newsflash: They were right. And Texas was worse. The difference is Texas got to have their RPI saved by losing in the Big12 instead of the Valley.

I'm not saying WSU would beat Texas. Or Evansville. Just that they weren't very good teams this year. Nor do I believe either will be next year.

Don't know how to do the numbers, but I wonder what kind of an RPI boost Evansville got by beating WSU....twice.

From the sounds of things there are going to be 2 or 3 pleasant surprises on the Shocker's schedule next season.

Excellent! I can't wait to hear who they are. Meanwhile, ESPN's article on Tennessee is is a preview of what to expect to see from them next season. I'm speculating here, but Tennessee may be the biggest team, in physical terms, we'll play next season. Starters Maymon 6'7" 260lbs, Stokes 6'8" 270lbs, Golden 6'0" 205lbs, Hall 6'9" 230lbs with McCrae being the 'bean pole' at 6'5" 178lbs.

Am I off base to say it our game with them will be a rugby scrum? Is that game going to be packed to the rafters or what?

When he made the decision over the weekend, he changed projections for his program.Jarnell Stokes could have turned pro. It wouldn’t have been a wise decision for the Tennessee standout.

That one's going to be at IBA next year, right? We'd better sell that place out.

Evansville was absolutely not "dreadful." Evansville has no name value and was judged on the team they've been for the last decade, not the team they were last year.

They were a long ways from being a great team, but they were a decent-to-solid team. They made it to the semi-finals of the CIT -- nothing to brag about, but by no means "dreadful."

Was that decided already? I can't remember... Anyway, if the administration is looking for a "name" team, there might be more than one to choose from for the IBA game. :D

Coming off a Final Four combined with the hope we'll be a top 20 team, combined with a BCS name, I will be extremely disappointed in Shockernation if it's not a sellout.

                  • The game at IBA is Tennessee. I can 99.9% confirm this.

Now, if I can get some confirmation on some of the names being thrown around for the schedule next year I'd greatly appreciate that. Stop dangling the candy in front of the baby please :)

It's mentioned in there that this coming game will be at IBA.

I'm disappointed in the attendance for the IBA games. We really need to get those sold out. I know there's been problems for season ticket holders, but still ... it's huge for this program to show that we can sell out a 15k arena. Whatever the reasons are, having 9500 fans in a 15k arena makes the program look bad. So far attendance has been falling each time we play there.

New Mexico and Cincy are the two that I've heard, but that's public knowledge.

It's especially embarrassing when you get a state school from 130 miles away coming in here and selling out the place, while you have the school from right down the street barely filling up 2/3 of the place because of the whining from certain segments of the fanbase failing to understand the concept that Koch Arena isn't shaped like an Intrust Bank Arena.

Thanks, I heard those two floating around as well, but I know nothing was close to confirmed on them. I was wondering if there were others out there without public knowledge, like I'm assuming the ones Doc and marty are hinting at..

If Tennessee will be as good as I think they'll be and we don't get 15,000, I'll be changing my tone and joining your disappointment. Team from the Big 6, name recognition, WSU looking for revenge of last year's loss. This is not a UAB or S. Miss type game. It's the type I've been wanting at IBA.

Definitely agreed. And hopefully our recent success plus a sellout for that game will continue to help us get big names in for the IBA games.

And I understand the concept of UAB and Southern Miss not being super exciting games, but ... I think we need to sell out IBA every time we play there to continue to make ourselves look better for potential conference realignment. Regardless of who we're playing, those games might be important for our long term future. It gives the people in charge another point to brag about when we can say that we consistently sell out IBA.
