Thanks for the heads up. When we stop in West Memphis for gas, I will keep the doors locked while my wife fills the gas tank.

I'd be taking this route if I ws goin there,, was just there last week, damn the timing

You and the wife stay in the car and let the boy fill er up. Good experience and he probably moves quicker than you. If Dave is going let him fill er up, I mean he is expendable.

Word of advice, if you are in the 'Other' State than where the primary metroplitan area resides, you are in the wrong part of town.

            West Memphis, AR
            St Louis, IL
            Etc.

If you go US-60 route, watch the speed traps in southern Missouri. Last time I went that route to Mammoth Spring Ark, it was infested with highway patrol and county mounties... Otherwise it is not a bad ride.

Drove the northern route through St. Louis. It wasn't bad except when we got into Illinois, ran into lots of road construction just across the river from St. Louis...

I hate to backtrack, so I would go south through Oklahoma or take US-60 from Wichita

Absolutely this. Been to Tennessee many a time, and this is the way to go. Great scenery in Arkansas.

Not everything about West Memphis, AR is bad. Lady Shocker Jazimen Gordon is out of West Memphis. Just goes to show that you can find quality people even in the most downtrodden places if you look hard enough.

That said, I wouldn't stop in West Memphis.

Sure you guys don't want to take a detour through Missouri to look at the meth labs, adult video stores and porn billboards that litter the countryside?

How many people can you fit in the back of your rig? You may be able to grab a payday here.

I plan on going through Kansas City, but hopping on a plane and flying over all of those silly highways...

Well the Kung Wu Superfan Locomotive is leaving the station tomorrow morning. Per @OTR Shockfan: we will be heading the southern route with a layover in EAST Memphis.

Final destination is a hotel we have stayed at before and loved it: Marriott Marquis, which is only about 1.5 miles from the Georgia Dome.

Actually Google says it's 1.6 miles, but 23 minutes away. Are you serious?!
