If the leadership of Shockernet, in their great wisdom, chooses to sticky this thread at the top of the forum, please edit out any replies that are off-topic. I was hoping that this thread (that should eventually be locked and cleaned up) can be a source of education for new Shockers as well as non-Shocker visitors who may ask the question of why such hard feelings exist between the two universities - more so with Shocker fans for obvious reasons.

Sounds pretty whiny when you lay it all out.

Helluva post cold, I would like to add that Shocker football was dropped with the hope of improving the two northern schools programs. The regents had no qualms getting rid of Shocker football. I have always been of the mindset that I will root for them when they play us, until that that happens the hell with them. Besides all that it's a Great day to be a Shocker!

During that period KU happily scheduled the Shockers beating their brains in on most contests.
Much in this post I think is a bit one sided (which I think is fair given you are essentially trying to lay out one side of the argument), but I would only point out that the year that this series of 9 games was originally started was also the absolute low point in KU basketball history. They hadn't made the tournament in 2 years, had been beat by WSU in the tournament 2 years before and had just fired their coach for lack of performance (only time that has ever happened). Meanwhile, the previous 4 years WSU basketball was at its absolute height (92-29 during those 4 years).

Now, yes by the time the series ended both programs had reversed roles, but to say that KU only scheduled WSU because WSU was down really flies in the face of the reality of the state of the two programs in 1984.

So, the investigation into WSU coincided exactly with WSU beating KU in New Orleans in the 1981 NCAA's? Coincidence?

Has it been mentioned that in that time frame, the nCAA was headquartered in Kansas City and the majority of the nCAA's employees were KU graduates?

I believe the lead investigator was a KU grad.

Cold, if only you could source all of that stuff. It'd be golden and worth a sticky for sure...

I've been looking for something like that for years. The only thing it's missing is sources...

There is a book, Uncloistered Halls or something like that which details a lot of it I believe.

So, what you're saying is that when we were the better program and had "nothing to gain" by playing ku, we scheduled a nine game series? Interesting...

Just to clarify my last post, I personally dislike KU for many of the reasons outlined by other posters in this thread. However, I can't stand it when people stretch the truth or use outright lies. Debate is dead in today's world because everybody just wants to score points in an argument, truth be damned.
