Wichita State vs. LaSalle- Sweet Sixteen Showdown Discussion and Predictions

LaSalle is a better team than I thought, but they are very beatable. If K-State would have played in the first half like they did in the second half against the Explorers, KSU wins that game going away. We should be able to win this game as long as we come to play.

I will add that anyone who 'hates' cold should remember that a coldless shockernet would be much less entertaining. Ever heard the song 'without me' by eminem?

I'm with you. I just couldn't let this softball go without hitting it out of the park (or in my case the warning path). I won't go so far as to say I love Cold, but he is funny and entertaining as hell. Those games were on different days. Why would we still be leading SC the next day? Obviously the story would be us on Saturday, La Salle and FGCU on Sunday.

This game has all the trappings of 2006. I would have bet my house that we were going to the Elite 8 after we beat Tennessee that year. Don't get emboldened by a team's inferior seed. La Salle is currently in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1955, the year they went to the national championship game. I can assure you their fanbase, players, coaches, alumni, are thinking right along the same lines as us. They feel like destiny is on their side and they are going to win.

Everybody in Shocker Nation must treat this game as a national championship game. We need to leave it all on the floor. La Salle needs to be thought of as Duke, Kentucky, KU, Gonzaga, etc. all rolled up in one. We need to be flying from the tip. If we blow them out then I will love to eat my hat, but I have a strong feeling that this will be BY FAR our toughest game of the tournament. My prediction would be that if we beat La Salle we are going to the Final Four. If La Salle beats us they are going to the Final Four.

Agree, agree, agree... They superstitious side of me is a little concerned that like 2006,we will be the higher seed, which I think means white uniforms... instead of our badass black...

For what it's worth, Jason King of ESPN was just on 810whb with KK.
- expects the Shox to beat LaSalle
- thinks they have a good chance to make the Final Four
- says Marshall is a STUD of a coach - especially getting where they are this year when nobody expected to be close to where we are
- also says last year's team was better, just got a really bad draw with VCU
- confirmed to KK that most other coaches respect Marshall, but few would want to have a beer with him. Said he definitely has an edge about him which works with this team.
- said Marshall had told him personally in the past that he loves WSU and it would (paraphrasing) take a top type 3 job to get his attention (UCLA not a good fit but although Jason speculated that Memphis would be an example of a team that might get his attention and would be a good fit)

of course Jason lives in Kansas City and does not have the east coast bias, which he and KK actually talked about...

I watched most of the La Salle v. Ole Miss game. Not a lot of defense played by either side.

RDR, I totally agree with you regarding TO/PF analysis, but some times you have to look at the games and the style in which they were played. No doubt, if WSU does not reduce the number of TOs and PFs, they will need to repeat their shooting performance of Saturday.

Truly a Sweet 16 field for everyone

Wichita State is the ignored middle child. The Shockers played second fiddle to the Doug McDermott Show all season in the Missouri Valley. But while the Bluejays return to Omaha, Neb., and move on to the Big East, Wichita State is still playing, with a blessing, no less, from Tim Tebow.

That's like the sports version of laying on of hands.
