    Totally delusional.

Sack up, and shut your fricken trap.
Oh? And students don't pay for that ticket?
If a student does not maintain a GPA, they don't get to be a student anymore. If a student can't pay tuition, they can't be a student anymore.
I know students who work harder than many professionals I know.

Yeah, a lot of students are bandwagon fans. Some don't care. It pisses me off to see a student walking around on campus decked to the hilt in KU crap. But, just remember the attendance the students gave during the winter break...

If you're willing to give students a pass for whatever reason then you should give a pass to those that don't show up because they have to work all day and maybe they just don't have it in them to attend. Or maybe those who have to wake up at 5 or 6 in the morning to go to work for 9 hours or so choose that they'd be better off getting some sleep rather than going to the game. Or those that don't show up because of kids or babysitter issues. Or maybe they, like most of the no show students, just decided that the team is losing and they'd rather do something else. If we want to start making excuses for everyone we can. Lets just not limit those excuses to the students.

I'm down with that. Those are legit excuses. Heck, I think my dad has used a few of those in the past. Thank you for being here to offer your defense. I wasn't trying to be one-sided, I just know no one on here's gonna attempt to defend the students in any way, so someone has to try.

But yeah, this thread should probably die. This horse is a dead horse. Beating it won't fix anything.

              • I honestly can't believe this debate continues.

When are all of you going to realize that we've got a really solid bunch of "true fans" that will support this team through thick and thin?

If we've got a bunch of bandwagoners, that probably means our team is playing well, so I'd take that in a second.

As a student your arguement doesn't hold any weight. It's your duty as a student to get good grades, and if you didn't want to be a student then you wouldn't shell out the thousands of dollars it takes to attend school. How is that related to getting FREE student tickets? It's a perk of being a student to get those FREE tickets. It's a shame that more students won't take advantage of the FREE tickets! I'm sure every non-student would love to get FREE tickets. You forget that the non-students have careers to worry about. If they don't go to work and do their jobs they get fired and won't be able to afford tickets, and they don't have the luxery of FREE student tickets. Your "point" is ridiculous!

I know students who work more hours than some of you who have careers. Your excuse sucks too. I know you'd appreciate a free ticket. But, keep in mind a lot of students are full-time employees elsewhere, and a good amount can still find time to come to the games.

Just stop. Seriously. It's getting old quickly. Everybody has excuses for not making a game here and there. The majority of the non-student section seats are filled every night, and they require U.S. currency. Student seats are being filled at just over the 50% occupancy rate and are given away for notta, zilch, zippity-doodah, zero.

You still keep dodging the following question I ask of you:

How come students were showing up in 2005-07 and not now? Didn't the students still have homework and full-time jobs to attend to in that time period? Or is this studying/working thing just a new trend?

It ends when you want it to end. I won't concede my positions on the students, and neither will you. I've chosen this hill to die on.

Why were the majority of the seats filled? because, it's easier to justify staying up til one to write a paper when the team's winning. Plus, a lot of students have no pride in their school. For every WuShock you see on campus, you'll see a jayhawk or a powercat. Then, when you add in other school's crap on campus, you'll see as I do that a lot of WSU students aren't WSU fans. These will only attend when it's trendy to attend, and it's only trendy to attend when we win.

I still maintain that we're better fans than you, strictly because I don't like you, so I will continue to justify my peers. You can cry about our empty seats when our section is the only ones with empty seats left in Koch. Fill your own seats first.

Well, if your point is to try to win a debate intelligently, you rather quickly failed. Did you seriously just say that? Now you're classifying Shocker fans into their own classifications? "We're better, because I don't like you".. lol.. you're joking, right? Way to own me there, skippy.

FYI, I'm probably 2 or 3 years older than you. That's the funny thing.

Well that makes perfect sense.. lol.. Since obviously non-student fans outnumber student fans by a healthy 9 to 1 ratio, I'd say that's a little unfair. The fair way would be to look at the occupancy percentage rate..(cool, I like that term.. OPR). Student section OPR is a little over 50%. Non-student OPR is a little over 90%... Game over.
