Were you there? Did you hear the place? And lastly, have you been to any other sporting event? Sorry, it was pathetic. And yes it was nearly full, but that merely adds fuel to my fire.
Yes, I was there. I was sitting on the floor and it sounded loud to me when it was warranted. Yes, it could have been louder, but some people decided to leave with 2:30 left in the game, so half of the crowd was gone in the final 2 minutes. Those fans we can do without, the fans that were left were making quite a bit of noise.

Yes, I've been to many other sporting events at WSU. Men's and Women's basketball, Volleyball and WSU Baseball, even the regional and super regional this last season. I've even been to a Bowling event.
Well, I was there in section 112, row 1A, seat 5 (floor seats as well), thank you KSN. There were tons of times I turned around to see no one cheering, and then turned to my left to see the student section going nuts.

By the way, I ddin't mean other WSU sporting events. I meant other sporting events where real fans go crazy no matter what. Most WSU sporting events don't hold a candle to those, barring baseball, as stated before, during a bandwagonal... oops, I mean regional.
Yea, I've been to many Chiefs games, even Chiefs playoff games. I was also at nearly every KU football game this season, even the Orange Bowl. I was at many KSU football games in their heyday and many KU basketball games at Allen Fieldhouse. I've also been to many Royals games (when they had Brett and weren't horrible). I've been to games at Fenway Park in Boston. I've been to many, many sporting events where fans go crazy, but even this year at Chiefs games fans didn't have the same "spark" as they usually do.

We still have some of the best support of any college basketball team in the country.

As far as noise level, that is a seperate issue and it was pretty dead. The crowd half-heartedly responded when there were good plays. That disappointed me some. I don't care what our record is, when there are good plays and we get on a run (something everyone should be stoked about LOL) we should still get on our feet, make some noise and show our support.
      Yeah man, it's sick.

This is pretty much how I feel on the issue. I must not have given that feeling on my 1st post on the thread.

With that said, you should agree that the "fans" at Koch arena are a joke.

no offense man, im not saying i agree with him, but did you look around our arena, it was not even close to being full. I would say there were at least 500 empty seats
Only 500 seats empty? To me that sounds like IT WAS close to being full. 500 empty seats equates to being at 95 percent capacity at Koch. Also, Shockernet is probably the wrong forum to express displeasure for fair weather/bandwagon fans because I doubt these types of fans would take the time to venture on this site. So your rant is probably falling on deaf ears.

I wouldn't say they are a joke, because they are there supporting the Shockers when they have a 1-7 conference record, but they do need to realize that their cheering actually helps the guys on the court. Pumps them up and sometimes is the reason for a win or a loss. Pathetic is a harsh word. I'd go with unhappy or dejected.

First of all, don't tell me to get a grip, I don't give a flying **** what some jokes from Texas talk about on a message board. I'm talking about the fans in the arena, at an actual game, in real life. I'm not talking about cyberspace. Those opinions are meaningless to me, I'm talking about the lame fans at Koch arena.

Complaining about the crowd at Koch is like a Patriots fan complaining that they don't win by more.

Instead of posting whiny rants, why don't you pray for the health of this team?

Wichita fans do sit on their hands a lot. Koch Arena was quiet tonight.

                                Big Whoop.

We don't have a football team because everyone in this town is already a fan of someone else, and isn't going to freeze their butt off to watch a D I-AA team go 6-6 when they could be watching the Big 12 from their couch at home. We don't have a pro team because, let's face it, we're too small. Neither the NFL or AFL will consider us, and AFL2 and our other leagues aren't catchy enough for fans.

We DO have a baseball team. The *shudder* Wingnuts will fare better than the Wranglers because the Wingnuts have different goals. The Wingnuts are here to win. The Wranglers were here to produce a second baseman and a #3 starter for the Royals.

As for fan support today, yeah it was dead. Guess what? It was the second day of classes! I was exhausted after school today, but I still came. Guess what else? Fans don't like watching losses...

As for bandwagon WSU baseball fans, there's nothing wrong with that. I was unable to attend a lot of WSU baseball as a kid because of scheduling. Now that I'm a student, I'll attend more. But, I sure as hell won't blame fans for attending the Super Regional when they missed the games in February. Kansas sucks that time of year. IT'S COLD! A GA seat in that weather? No fun.

But hey, next year, let's toss out the bandwagoners. The NCAA will NEVER give us another regional. EVER. On TV, Louisville regional was lucky to have 3000 people for a final with Louisville playing. We had 3000 there for Oral Roberts vs. Arizona. Yeah, let's throw out the people who put us on the map....

As for successful sports, go watch the NBC World Series. Do Baseball Round The Clock. Serious fun, and Wichita eats it up. Why? Because, it's special and a good product.

EDIT: wu_shizzle's post makes a lot of sense actually. Koch ROCKS on a good night. Tonight was our crowd's equivilant of the Patriots-Ravens game, still good, but kinda weak...
