Most of you are thinking about it backwards. Less fouls actually means fewer points. When Tim Donaghy was fixing NBA games, he'd try to get teams to the over on points by calling early fouls so that both teams would get to the bonus sooner. One of the reasons scoring is down in college basketball is because it is more physical than the NBA.

It's hard to foul people when you can't catch them.
The MVC is full of people that are slow and can be caught. It is also full of floppers, grabbers and holders. If you aren't slow, they will make you slow.
That is why I encourage us to trap and press more. It's hard to stop superior athleticism and superior coaching.

I'm assuming the tone amounts to an occupational hazard.
I try to be constructive and not engage in personal attacks, so sorry that this post verges on it. I guess I just want to call it out because SR could make the same points much more constructively and people would give him a lot more respect.
It is merely a play on General George S. Patton, Jr.'s closing remark in a famous speech that he gave to the Third Army on June 5, 1944. The speech was given immediately, before the Normandy invasion.
Also, it is a closing, which is typical of a commander, when he is closing out his directives or remarks to his troops. (This comment is true for old Army. I do not have any idea about what is true about our Army of today.)
If anyone is interested in the speech, go here. http://old.nationalreview.com/weeken...on111001.shtml"Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

Lets face it, many of the teams in the conference aren't the most athletically gifted and aren't capable of playing fast. Being that it's a grind it out style, you're going to have more fouls called and it may be because the Valley office wants it that way, but at the same time, the style of the two teams on the court can often dictate how the game will be called as well.
The MVC has some top notch officials no matter what the fans think. Are there some that aren't as good? Sure. Do some have bad nights? Absolutely. But if we had "Valley refs" in the game against Detroit, I think it would have been called in a similar way.
In 2013, the average fpg called in all non-MVC games by any referees (wherther they have worked 5 MVC games or not) is 35.22 fpg."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Let's give "General Patton" (aka Napoleon "syndrome" Bonaparte) a break here, his career in DII leaves him starved for recognition. He comes to Shockernet to fill a void under the guise of education. Let's do our part and placate the journeyman so he doesn't go back to his league and extract the required ego-boost from the young women he referee's.
