For most of my adult years I have said "I don't always agree with the calls but the only thing worse than the call that was made by the official would be me calling the game". Given that I would be a worse official than those calling the game, I would not have called goal tending call from that far out on the floor (both the position of the ref and the position of EO).

True, all the lumberjacks go to KU.

As I understand the "intended" positioning of the referees, there should have been one under the bucket, one near a sideline around the FT line and one trailing the play. It wasn't a play in transition, so the referees should have had time to get into the proper locations. The trailing official, who had the worst view of the play, is the one who made the goal tending call.

The referee who had the worst vantage point for making the call, declared SIU the winner of the game. Considering the ego of a guy who would think it was up to him to determine who wins a game, and the fact that WSU probably filed the complaint with the league office, and the fact that the league censured the referee. We better hope this ref is never assigned to a WSU game again in his life. He should be reassigned to Jr. High games and given a chance to work his way back up to D1 ball.

Personally, I'd rather see that referee standing in the unemployment line.

Or at least handing me my food through the drive through window.

What comes with a reprimand? Is it a suspension from league games, or more or less?

I would guess that he's lost a game or two. Something along those lines. This will be noted in his file and I doubt he is seen in STL. If he is in STL, I hope it's just Thursday.

He did the IllST-Drake game the next day (the 6th) in Des Moines and worked the 9th doing SMU-Rice.

One, I don't think announcement of a suspension came until a few days later. Two, it would have been difficult to get a replacement on such short notice for the ISU/DU game. Three, SMU/Rice has nothing to do with the MVC.

My son plays Jr High basketball and I don't want this guy anywhere near his games. The Y would be a good place for him to start over.
