We defended the FT well, 64.5%. It's just that they still made 7 more than we attempted.

I know it has become somewhat of a running joke about defending the free-throw line, but this is actually the reverse of my logic. I don't care what percentage of their free-throws they make, I just prefer to lower their attempts. It wasn't the deciding factor in this game though. TOs, TOs, TOs.
We can make all the excuses we want, but they flat outplayed and outhustled us. Their defense was a major factor as to why we had so many turnovers. The refs didn't cause the turnovers. Piss poor passing and inattention caused them.
We've had a great run under some very difficult circumstances. We knew we were likely to lose another game and have had some very close calls as of late, but managed to overcome then, even when we played sloppy. This time we couldn't. I have every confidence that GM will regroup the team and move on. And the next game is a great time to start another winning streak.
The edge is that we don't get another bad loss. We must win against Evansville at home (cannot finish third in the Valley). We must win on the road against MSU, SIU, ISUr, and @UNI. We pretty much must win the rest of our games at home. Our room for error is very small at this point just because almost every team in the Valley would be a bad loss. Otherwise, we will have two losses or more losses in the 100+ RPI range and a RPI in the 40-60 range come tournament time, which would make it hard to get in.
Right now, all we lose is national press and a ranking, but the real problem is that it makes the road to the NCAA much harder. Even if we get in, we don't want to be a 12 seed or lower.
I wanna be a 16 seed if KU is the 1 seed in the same region

I can't believe some of you posters (and you call yourselves Fans). It's one league loss. Will there be others -- probably 1 or 2. Let it lie. These kids have played and played well for the most part. Today not so much, but give credit where credit is due. Against all odds since Hall and Baker went down we are 6-1. I think that is pretty damn good.
yup a very disappointing game, cant expect to turn the ball over 22 times and win on the road or anywhere for that matter. But as disappointing as it was, the bright side is we get Carl Hall back on Wednesday, and we did go 6-1 without him. Every shocker fan would have taken that record once the injury happened. This loss does make the Creighton game next Saturday an absolute must win. Time to learn from our mistakes and get better, the season is still very young.
For some reason this didn't bother me so much...I knew from possession #1 it was going to take something special and unusual to win today. Whether we were just gassed, uninspired, poorly prepared or whatever, and make no mistake, Evansville played well, played hard from the tip and did everything they needed to do to win, but whatever it was for the Shocks, it just wasn't meant to be today. So be it. As long as we don't let Evansville beat us again (on Wednesday or sometime thereafter) then we'll be fine. All of the goals are still in front of us.
Congrats to the Aces on a game well played. Look forward to whipping their asses as we normally do on the return trip.
Gregg's postgame comments were great. Proud of these guys going 6-1 down 3 starters. If Mal pulls back for the 3 instead of driving, who knows, might have been 7-0. But so be it...learn from it, get better and let's get back to work on Wednesday.
