I for one am very thankful for how well we adjusted to losing 3 and sometimes 4 players over the last half a dozen games. The bright side about losing today is that we are going to be more focused for ISU and BJ.. both of which we need to beat for a variety of reasons. We go 2-0 over the next couple of games and all this is forgotten.

Just a reminder. NCAA tournament winning teams keep their combo number for turnovers and fouls to 30 or less. If the Shockers had achieved 30 or less yesterday, the Shockers would have blitzed the Aces.

We can blame the refs, we can blame the player, who took the last shot, we can blame this and we can blame that. We can whine about 3 starters being out. The loss came down to self-annihilation.

    • Everything about this game was out of sorts, up to the freaking game time. Sunday at 3:30? Whats up with that? Done, stupid game. Anomaly to the nth degree. Move on.

      • Only reason for this game time would be for national TV. Have no idea why it was not a normal saturday night game. Not an excuse, just adds to the notion I have that this game was just weird all around, in a karma type way.

Did they schedule it originally thinking that it would maybe be on FSN? I figured it would have been being a sunday afternoon. That or the MVC is just messing with WSU. Or was there a hockey game there last night that gets precedence over the EU team playing in the arena?

          • Hey Shockerprez, I got a chuckle regarding your last 2 posts. You talk about an anomaly and stupid game, strange day and time of game, ending with "move on." Then a couple minutes later you jump back into the analysis of the day and time again. Take your own advice son and move on (lol).

I know, I should. But if alcoholics get 12 steps, I should be allowed 12 posts, right?

He is fine when he focuses on the things he does well. His rebounding and opportunistic way of getting baskets was exceptional. I just prefer him to stick with that and not try to much from the perimeter because he gives us more in other areas. I think we are better with Jake White rebounding than shooting a 3 pointer, just like I wouldn't put Armstead in the post. White's recipe for success last year was tenacious offensive rebounding and taking quality shots, and I don't think the recipe has changed.

                    Jake's great when he doesn't shoot 3's.

                      Creighton in 2009?

                      Missouri State in 2006?

The Missouri Valley is not kind to those that do not win the tournament. Remember the only time we have gotten an at-large bid has been in 2006 and 2012. What do those years have in common? A dominant 1st place conference season. We probably did enough in the nonconference to get into the tournament, but I would still prefer to get at least second (no, third behind Evansville is not okay), and hopefully only 3-4 or less more conference losses.
Were any of those teams ranked nationally in a period of time for that season? Did they have RPI's in the low 20's? Did any of those teams play for a large portion of their schedule minus 3 starters?

You just don't get it. And once again, shockingly, you're post-crazy in the hours after a loss.

                      • EU fans throwing their ticker-tape parade today. They think they're gonna get 2nd in the Valley now. They think they're an NCAA Tournament team. They think after their win at Drake on Wednesday, and our loss to Illinois State, that will be the last time we will be tied with them in the standings.

You can tell this fanbase hasn't tasted success in a very long time and has gone delusional.

No. SWOMO was. Big difference. Who's ever heard of SWOMO?

                              • Katz doesn't seem to think its a big deal -- "Losing a road Missouri Valley Conference game isn't such a big deal. That's why no one should get down on the short-handed Shockers after Wichita State lost at now fellow 4-1 Evansville on Sunday."
