  • Critisism shall fall where critisism is deserved. Coach Marshall is paid very very well to figure out how to win games. He has done a superb job to date. I hope he stays at WSU for a very very long time. However, Coach, in my opinion, failed to make adjustments last night. The precedent had been set by G'Town and Virginia that Tennessee struggled with a zone. WSU's guards were struggling with an agressive man to man. I understand for the most part the game was a 1-2 possession game and really didn't scream "ADJUST", but given coach's self admitted dislike of zone defense, it tends to show through a little more in that situation. It is my opinion. And I stand by that. I also stand by my statement of "for one night, he wasn't very good". Coaches have bad games just like the players do. Sorry to inform some Shocker fans, but neither our coach nor our players are perfect. Though we as fans are very fond of them and think of them in very high regard.

In the end this will be a great learning experience that should help this team grow and better themselves(both coaches and players). The majority of those players had not seen a true hostile environment yet, check that off the list now. WSU should go on to sizeable accomplishments this season, and it will be a fun (al beit frustrating) ride.

    • It's not meltdown time yet fellas and I'm one of the most critical posters on how the Shox perform as I can always find something to point out. What keeps me sane is that based on our own merits and a little help from our opponents in a few games, we've managed to yield a 9 - 1 record thus far. Before the season started, I'm willing to bet dollars to pesos that the majority of us had losses to VCU and Tennessee in our non-con schedule.

Yeah they played like dog crap (sans 'the Beast'), we got some calls not go our way, had a few injuries, but this happens to every team. A road loss to a BCS foe is not meltdown worthy. Don't confuse the manner in which we lost to what this team really is. Right now, we are a relatively inexperienced team, trying to 'gel' together, who has benefited from our opponents struggles at times and has overachieved a little bit. We are ahead of the curve as far as I'm concerned and hopefully the team learns a major lesson from this game and applies it positively the next game.

Did you expect a 26 - 0 season? C'mon now, a loss was going to happen, what is important is that the team learns from the loss.

Every game that happens when a guy makes a tough basket and screams, you see it all the time. But I suppose you can't see that with blinders on like the guys had last night!

They really didn't have that much foul trouble. One guy fouled out and he should have fouled out probably twice! We drive the lane get bodied no call they drive the lane whistle galore? Not one-sided really? I know you are a great Shicker fan and I am not doubting that, but to stick up for those jerk offs last night is a little rediculous to me. Even Jay Bilias thought the game got out of their hands! @JayBilas: The officiating in the Tenn-Wichita St. game has gone way past embarrassing. Unfortunate the "amateurs" are being let down by the "pros."
Since you were 600 miles away, I don't think you had a good vantage point to know what or when anything was said.

The fact MA went to the bench and spouted off "F*** me" plain as day speaks volumes.

CH knows better than to yap right in the opponents face.
You simply can not do that and is a Point Of Emphasis with the NCAA and officials.

We are absolutely instructed to enforce the sportsmanship part of the Rule Book and it was correctly done so last night.

How about this for a notion?
Let your play do the talking and keep your mouth shut.

I'm thinking that since you are sniffing odors in the rectal area of a certain bird (according to your sig), maybe it's affecting your ability to comprehend and reason.

        That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

        • of course shockref would be here to save the day for the piss poor performance by the officials. Im not saying they cost us the game, but they sure didnt help us with how bad they were. Its bad when you have respected National media like Jay Bilas tweeting on how bad that game was officiated.

          • Malcolm's game and attitude is a bit moody. One minute he is Joe Ragland/Clevin Hannah leading the team and the next he is Fridge Holman's mouthier little brother. I like the way FVV is shooting up the learning curve and really felt more comfortable with he and Cotton in the game last night.

We still should've played a zone press/zone the entire game. Tennessee was dumbfounded when we did it several times.

Have you read all of my quotes & observations on last nights game?

Quit being a J.O. and read all before popping off.

                  • The officiating was uneven from end to end. We could have been strong enough to withstand that crap, but we weren't.

                    • Shockerref-- so you were at the game and could see and hear what MA said? What was it? Oh that's right you don't know either so shut it!
What about their guy yelling **** so loud it can be heard by my 4 year old 600 miles away as you said? Is that good sportsmanship? I would think the primal scream Carl gave that happens in every game would be less harmful to sportsmanship than a guy screaming **** so loud it can be heard on tv! But you refs see **** the way you want to and the rest of us just have to deal with it. I'll hang up and listen thanks !

                      • Can you simply not register the difference between screaming, and screaming in a guys face? Are you that dense? Personally, I'd like to see less of that screaming crap anyway. In another mans face or not. And you could see MA running his mouth at the bench. Don't know what he said, but he shouldn't be doing that anyway.

                        • This I do know. Armstead hits the 3, gets the T and they make both throws. Hall also got a T. Last Season Mr. Stutz, after getting mugged by an Illinois State sub player, yelled "what!!!", received a T and that put him in foul trouble on the pine. We needed him on the floor and lost that very physical but important game.

So Dr. Phil might ask " Hey Shocks, how are those player T's workin out for ya?" Yikes!!! Now let's fast forward back to last night with over 4 minutes left, less the points we lost on the T's? We need No players getting T's ever!!! T's are only for Coach Marshall and he even keeps that action to a mild roar.

We had some weaknesses exposed last night that are correctable. I want Tennessee again bad at the Dance. Our Shocks will lose some games this Season as will every other team. 9-1 is still not chopped liver. I'll take it!!! As for Coaching, in a loss, we all can find ourselves 2nd guessing our Coach. However, I have never made one thin dime coaching so I can trust my opinions only so far. I'm sure being 9-1 at this juncture at this level puts many of my opinions to rest. Even so, I love sharing them here anywho and do it for free. I like hearing from many of you as well because there are some brilliant minds on here and collectively, we usually get things pegged pretty accuratly IMO.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I agree 100%... both T's were EARNED; we need to learn to win/lose with class. In my opinion, the officiating was piss poor at best. Regardless, we didn’t deserve to win the game and I hope we learned some important lessons in the loss.

                            Lesson #1...

                            • I can't complain about the technical fouls. Everything else the refs did was piss poor. However the refs did not cost us the game. Over aggressive, lazy defense and free throws were the difference in my opinion.

                              • Every loss is disappointing but this one isn't going to kill us like losses at home to EU, SIU in the past. We've seen how they respond to wins, now we'll find out the same for a loss.

This is the kind of game that can help us a ton in march. Go shockers.
