  • I know Nick lacks on defense, but I would have played him, until his tongue hung out. He could not have possibly played worse than Demetric and I guarantee you that he would have shot better than the team average of 38.2%.

Twenty-eight personal fouls? Out scored from the free throw line by 17? Maddening.

The starting five only had 21 fouls. Carl was the only one, who showed any sanity. Dumb reaching fouls just drives me nuts, especially the old wrap around the opponent foul. Even if the defender only hits air with the reach around, a foul is going to be called virtually every time.

    • When our offense is this bad, and the defense is fouling every time down the court, why is it that Nick Wiggins can't see some decent minutes. Him jacking a trey is better than Armstead jacking one, or driving and throwing one off the side of the backboard. I mean, seriously. What is the deal with that? he drains 4 treys last game and he gets 5 minutes this game? Same thing with Lufile. Why isn't he in instead of White? I don't get it sometimes.

The fact is that there were several players who played like garbage. One would think that would open up the door for someone to show what they can do.

I really want Wiggins to figure it out; unfortunately, he was really bad in limited minutes. You really couldn't play worse on defense.

I was surprised Wiggins didn't play more. We needed someone who could make 3s in the game and he certainly fits the bill.

              • Our guard play was really puzzling. Tennessee's pressure D was good but not great- we saw much, much tougher at VCU and handled it with great poise. Everyone on the perimeter tonight looked scared when they touched the ball.

                • Second Half Scoring:

                  WSU UT
                  2-point baskets made 8 7
                  3-point baskets made 2 1
                  Free throws made 10 22

UT made 22 free throws in the second half, more than we shot the entire game.
Our free throw defense let us down tonight.
We need to defend without fouling, especially when the calls are not going our way.

                  • D-will might have had his worst game as a shocker. The lob to EO is just a dumb play, everyone knows he is not going to make that play and Dwill can't make that pass. Sorry but the odds eo catches and rams that home are slim to none and slim just walked out the door.

                      • Armstead was at half speed tonight. Needed FVV in the 2nd half badly.

As irritating as this game was, Carl Hall was probably the best I have ever seen him. Too bad the other guys didn't rally around him, because he put them on his back tonight and carried them.

We were down 7 at around 1:15 (don't remember the actual time), when we had to begin fouling to stop the clock. Keep one thing in mind ... we SPOTTED the Vols 4 points in the form of two technical fouls. Even with the terrible reffing in the second half and playing poorly, that would have put us down only 3 at around the 1:15 mark, which would have been a completely different game. Giving points away in the form of technical fouls is no different than just starting the game 0 to 2. Or in this case 0 to 4.

Two completely unprovoked and unnecessary technical fouls in one game. Sheesh.

@JayBilas: The officiating in the Tenn-Wichita St. game has gone way past embarrassing. Unfortunate the "amateurs" are being let down by the "pros."

                          • Coach Jans said in an interview that Wiggins was soft (my words not his). I was given the impression that defense, rebounding, and being willing to dive for loose balls were all part of what he was talking about. I believe that his exact words was that he was improving but that they hoped that he became a tougher. He expounded a little which gave me the word "soft" as a description. With a physical game like tonight, I would deduct that they felt he wasn't ready yet and would be taken advantage of. If you watch only him during the game, he seems to lack strength and he certainly shies away from contact. Same with CJ tonight who gave way to their big Center (just backed off and gave him a rebound in the first half). We didn't see CJ again after that play.

Well, from the 1:15 mark TN was 4-6 from the line. What about the other 12-13 FT from 11:05 through 1:30?

With a one point lead and 3:54 to go, we had 3 TO, made 1 FT, and all of TN's 11 points were from the line. We flat did not close the deal tonight at the 3:54 or the 11:05 mark with a 5 point lead.

No argument from me brother. Compound that with spotting the other team with 4 points, and it doesn't bode well for us.
