RIP: SHOCKER WAR SONG
It is with a sad heart that the authorities announced that the Shocker War Song appears to be dead. No one is sure of the exact date of the demise of this Shocker FF phenomena. Authorities would only say that it appears that it went missing at some point after the Louisville game, and we now have no choice but to presume that it is dead.
The Shocker War Song became a part of the national Shocker identity during its final four run last year. Many Shocker fans have fond memories of the coaches and team dancing and singing the war song following the defeat of Gonzaga in SLC. Others talk about the Staples Center security and support staff singing the song after the Shockers defeated OSU. Of course, many will remember the Shocker fans spontaneously singing the war song in Atlanta and the fans of the other schools applauding them.
Many assumed that the war song would become an appreciated and treasured part of the proud Shocker Nation tradition. However, it appears that the cause of death is the result of neglect by the Shocker Faithful. At home games the band can barely find an opportunity to squeeze in the song because of all of the in-game promotions, and when the Shocker Sound does strike up the song most fans do not join in singing the song. At the Tulsa game when the team took control of the game and the Shocker crowd took control of the arena, the fans did not sing "You don't want to go to warrr with the Shockers . . ."
Shocker fan, Billy Warzinski when informed of the untimely death of the war song broke down in tears. "We had such a good thing, known throughout the nation, and we lost it." Many other Shocker fans had similar reactions when they heard this news.
But wait, maybe it's not dead yet, maybe there's a faint heartbeat and it can be revived at the CBE tournament . . .
ShockerNation it's up to you.ShockerNet is a rat infested cess pool.

Tweet during last home game:
@PaulS:uellentrop: The War chant has not caught on like I thought it would after it got such a Final Four boost. Most of the arena remains quiet.
Did you hear coach on his radio show say that he wishes more fans would participate in the war song?
Big shout out to the student section for keeping the war song alive. To the rest of the ShockerNation, we suck when it comes to the war song. At this rate the Shocker war song will be dead and gone before the end of next season.
Here are a few quotes from ShockerNet last March:
We need to start doing this at the end of every victory. It sounded great on TV.I was thinking this could be our equivalent of the Rock Chalk chant, but played at the last media timeout when we have the lead.I love when the band plays the 'War Chant' during a time-out or like they did after the Gonzaga gameShockerNet is a rat infested cess pool.

Is the War Chant a Wichita thing or did it originate with VCU? I have been under the impression that this is VCU's song, I am incorrect? If the song is VCU's why can't WSU be original? If I am completely off kilter and this is a Wichita State thing, I apologize and will proudly and loudly embrace the War Chant otherwise I feel like I am breaking the honor code by plagiarizing.
