Along with last game’s baseline out of bounds plays, if there is a junior high coach who can show Mills how to run a press breaker, can they please go to the next practice and show him?

I thought the effort was there for most of the game, but the game changed when we decided to put RD in the middle of the press and he turned the ball over twice. I'll never understand why he was in a position to be a ball handler against a Memphis press.

Yep. They pretty much knew all they had to do was win the last 5 minutes, so that's all they did. A little like a cat with a mouse. The cat can kill the mouse any time they want, but the cat enjoys it more if they play with it a while first.

As horribly as Memphis played tonight, pretty much any team in the conference would've won this game by 15 points, except for our beloved shockers who are the celler dwellers.

Any chance at all we had something to do with how horribly they played? This is a rhetorical question.

They threw the ball out of bounds, into the hands of one of our players, or travelled 97 times. We played VERY hard.

At least they played with some energy. Watched the whole game fully expecting a melt down at some point so wasn't terribly upset when it finally came.

That effort last night works against most of the competition in the AAC. I'm ok with that outcome and hopefully the guys can build off it.


We have MAYBE 2 or 3 players that could make Memphis' roster and none would start. I'm not saying everything else or even anything else is acceptable, but we were overmatched last night and no amount of anything is going to overcome that kind of talent differential. The defensive effort, if not the execution at times, was good if not excellent. Let's build on that and see what happens.

No question about effort.
Execution, especially during crunch time, meh.
We don't have the talent on board Memphis has, but the effort made things a lot closer than anyone expected.
As Doc mentioned, that effort against the ECU's, UTSA's and UMKC's of the world and they win those games.

However, with the talent and depth level on board, they gotta play that hard EVERY game.
It shouldn't take playing Memphis and being on ESPN2 to get the level of effort we witnessed last night.
It's got to be every night, every game regardless of the competition.
