It was fun while it lasted but odds of a return to that seem to be quite slim.
I sense and share your angst on that(my goodness , my son sent us a piture and my 4 year old grandson at the game 7 minutes in and there is NO ONE THERE!!!) BUT times have looked dire before. I DO like the conference as it was when we got in...I mean, going to Memphis for 2019 American tourney with UCONN, Houston, Memphis, Cincinnat, UCF, and the rest? Awesome! But changes happen...
My thought is that for who WSU is NOW, this is a perfect league...IF a great coach can be found....

I would agree with that last line, so long as D1 college athletics doesn't incinerate itself first. Which I think is a distinct possibility. The constant churn of most of a roster every year, plus a product on the floor that I struggle to enjoy, makes me an easily disinterested fan. I watched many a game in the dreadful 90s, so I know how to suffer through bad basketball. But for whatever reason, maybe just being younger, I still found even the most miserable times of the 90s at least entertaining. And since players were around for more than a year, I did feel like I kind of knew the team. Or maybe I've just become an old curmudgeon in my late 50s!

          Agreed.
One struggling team defeated another struggling team.
Nothing impressive, but a win is win for a WSU team (and staff) that desperately needed one.

          That is all.

          • As of right now, that was a battle for last place in the league and for the most part it looked like it.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

And he was the best of the 3 injured players. I don't think Zane Meeks and/or TJ Williams are going to make a lot of difference either when, and if, they return to the lineup.

                1972,
Meeks is toast. He's been sitting for 6-9 months so he isn't even close to game condition even if his shaky knee suddenly becomes healthy.
TJ is medical RS and that is definite. No use wasting a year of eligibility for a few games. Help him get healthy and ready for next year.

                That is all.

Clearly, that makes sense for TJ. With 6 years of college already in the books for Meeks I don't expect him to be on the roster next year but I guess these days anything is possible. I assume WSU would have to apply for some kind of waiver for him to play another year if that is even possible. Not sure it would be worth the time and effort.

So, Mills appears to be wasting a year of eligibility on Zion?

Do we know for sure how many spots we will "have to" replace for next year?

                          I thought 9 for sure.

However, the NCAA may be talked into allowing more years since players are being paid and they might be able to make more money in college ball than anywhere else. Who knows how much more good egamication they may need.

2 open on the move to 15 scholarships, 9 seniors, so 11 open scholarships assuming no waivers. Matej and Meeks could both theoretically be waiver candidates. With WSU's history assume 11 scholarships to fill plus a couple transfers.
