The Valley run is important no doubt. But this game is important as well. We need to take advantage of every opportunity we get to build a decent RPI and this is one of our better opportunities in the non-con portion of our schedule. Plus, WTH I simply don't like losing. Period.

Who generally backs up Gesell at the point? Is that Clemmons or one of your bigger guards?

This has absolutely nothing to do with the game, but I did get a bit of a chucle out of it. Now if Iowa was a Red State like Kansas they might have been willing to overlook this.

Armstead wasn't actually recruited highly out of high school...he was a qualifier that went to JUCO to improve his stock.

Clemmons would be the backup on paper - and he'll get minutes at the point for sure but look for Marble to shift over to the point at times too. You may even see Marble, Clemmons and Gesell all on the floor at the same time if we go small.

Clemmons will back up Gesell at the point, but Marble should get a handful of minutes there too. Clemmons' defense is certainly ahead of his offense at this point, as he is very quick, very fast, and very strong. He appears to have a decent set 3-point shot, but that is about all we have seen from Anthony thus far on the offensive end. His role tonight will be to harass whomever WSU's ballhandler is, push the ball in transition, and get the team into the motion offense in the half-court.

This could not be further from the truth. Sorry for posting this on this thread, but rumors shall not be started. Money (Mal) over BS.

My mistake I guess. Why would an academic qualifier go to JUCO?

We're awfully proud of our wrestlers but man that one is a head scratcher. Twenty years ago though this wouldn't even be news.

Iowa has a great wrestling program. Actually we have very good high school wrestling in Wichita, but we have no D-1 wrestling in Kansas I don't believe. So wrestlers is one of our state exports.

One thing you can say about those kids that were suspended is that they have good survival skills. Speaking of survival I'm sure they will be reinstated after the appropriate consequences are dealt with. Sounds like something my Dad would have done. He won his share of corn husking contests in the late 1930's and early 1940's while living near Cromwell, Iowa.

To improve your stock is one reason. For example, Wichita's Ja'ln Williams is a qualifier now at Hutchison JC for that purpose.

But the other poster also said MA was highly recruited out of HS and didn't go JC to up his stock

What about Armstead? He was recruited by Iowa and others out of Chipola, but was he heavily recruited out of high school? If so, why did he go to JUCO?

If Fran recruited Armstead when Fran was at Iowa, it would have had to have been out of juco, I think. Fran hasn't been at Iowa four years already, has he?
