No kidding. The block number may have been 8-5, but the altered/deterred number had to be something like 15-0.

I had been pretty worried about this game. Iowa returns most of their guys from last year and added a very good recruiting class. But after actually watching them last night, I was not very impressed. We can't have a Howard kind of game and expect to win, but if we play well this is more than just winnable--we should win this. DePaul tried pressing us, as they obviously didn't read the scouting report. But I'd be shocked if Iowa tried that instead of zoning the f out of us, so this could be a much harder fought victory. In the end, another low scoring slug fest.

Well it was only a 6 point game with around 2:00 minutes to go (68-62), but the Shocks closing run of 7-1 doubled up that margin.

However, what was impressive is that the Shocks held Iowa to 4 FG's in the second half in the process of winning the half 42-28.

Perhaps what is most promising is that we are far from a finished product.

Here is hoping for a good game. I am a Hawkeye fan, though I live in Kansas now. Hate KU, love KState, and don't really have feelings either way for WSU, though I am sure I would root for them against just about any other than my Hawks.

I love that you guys are very confident, will make it more fun if we can beat ya. I know there are some Ia fans spouting some nonsense. We will not win easily as some think. On the other hand, most of the posts referring to the Hawks talent, size, phsicality, athleticism being no where near the Shockers has me kind of chuckling a bit. Your fans do not know much about us , obviously, nor do our fans about your team.

I see you are already setting up the "we played terrible, wasn't Iowa, it was us" card. At least wait until the game is played to claim that kind of superiority. Anyway, not my board, but just couldn't help but to chime in. I am excited to play a good team and see where we stand. Doc - could you define "dribbled". I thought they were "dribbling" every time they saw EO

Sometimes folk want to choke you like a chicken KC. However, you have stuck with us through thick and thin and we all make mistakes. Thus, in the scheme of things, if SN folk puts up with the blunders of an eternal Shocker optimist like FSF, then I can partake in the crow dish with a Shocker fan like you.

Nobody this Season will win them all. However, beating VCU, and winning this Tourney is the start of an impressive resum'e for Dancing with the Stars in March. However, I never forget the impressive start we had around 2006 followed by the B-52 nose dive. We have lots of toil and games to play yet. While will will have our ups and downs, this will be an enjoyable ride. So far, I really like what I see. Having Baker and Armstead make me understand why Marshall likes the "redshirt-walk-on program" and utilizes it to add more experience than our foes and prognosticaters expect. Thus we now go 12 players deep solid which may be the first time of that much of quality depth in Shocker History. Now we understand why 3G referred to this recruiting class as his best ever here and why he keeps noting that Cle is a very special player.

I had the Shockers as losing 1.5 games at this point in the season (I put the over/under at 3.5 losses in the non-con). Great start to the year!

I'm really starting to worry too. He hasn't said anything yet and it makes me think he is either in trouble and needs our help or he is taking his time crafting a post like an artist that will be talked about by our children's children. He might also be in a nigerian witch doctors hut offering his life for the healing of EOs ankle before next game.

Iowa wins this one. Yes, we appear to be more athletic, but Iowa is not a small team and I think they'll be able to hang enough to disrupt the minor advantage we have in athleticism. Keys to the game, they'll figure out to zone us, we still won't be able to hit the perimeter shot and one guy on their team is going to shoot lights out and end up scoring in the upper 20's.
