  • Jerry Carino keeps WSU at #15. He gave WSU a big jump last week, moving the Shocks from unranked to #15. But this week he keeps WSU the same.

    H
e dropped Cu 9 spots from #16 to #25 and dropped k-state 6 spots from #12 to #18. Like the other ballots we have seen so far he drops VCU out (he had them #18 last week).

Okay that is 5 ballots that we have seen so far and WSU has moved 0, 2, 3, 4 and 5 spots for an average move up of 2.8 spots. That is less than I had hoped for but 3 spots would put WSU at #17. I am still hopeful that WSU ends up a little better than that. I still think #17 is the worst case scenerio for this week, but the 5 ballots we have seen look like we could very well end up there.

WSU does have a chance to gain a lot from the 8 ballots that didn't rank the Shockers last week. If all 8 of them put WSU in this week, that might create a little extra boost.

    • Some BCS bias going on. Non-BCS schools get hammered for losing. BCS schools get "adjusted" a notch or two.

He dropped Minnesota and KSU from ahead of us and jumped us with Miami (fine) and Oregon (ugh).

Butler seems to be getting a total free pass for their loss to LaSalle before Clarke returned from injury.

          • Doug Haller moves us up all the way from #18 to #17 this week. Both Minnesota and KSU immediately in front of us:

Percy Allen generously takes us from unranked to #23. Creighton is #18. This guy is retarded:

Not too good. We now have 7 ballots and WSU has moved from 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 3 spots up(unranked to #23). That is an average move up of 2.57 spots. I still think #17 is our worst case scenerio (with #13 being the best case) but I guess after seeing these 7 ballots, #18 wouldn't totally surprise me (it would deeply disappoint me).

It is also clear that Cu is going to take a big hit this week and I would be totally shocked if VCU is still ranked (I don't think they were on any of the 7 ballots we have seen so far). Kstate, on the other hand, is going to take a hit but probably not nearly as bad as Cu.

              • It doesn't matter to me if we are ranked #1 or Unranked - we need to win a tough game tomorrow night . . .

I really want to see the Shox as a 4 seed or higher, so as long as we can get inside, around 13 or 14, that chance is increased. If the Shox keep winning, it will take care of itself.

                    • *:30 Monday morning, WSU has slid down another notch to #18 in the RealTime RPI. However, early last week we were projected to lose 4 more road games, that is now down to 2; by 2 @ Ind St and by 13 @ Creighton.

Those would seem like astute observations coming from someone not too familiar with our program; however, the way we play on the road, those games are certainly not gimme's for the home teams. I like our chances, a LOT!

                        • Made the mistake of listening to Bruce and Bob, and immediately wanted to choke caller Rob. Just to be clear, not only should we be ranked ahead of sCUm. We are a BETTER team than CU. CU is is MCD and 3 pt chuckers who cant guard. WSU is sooooo much more than every other Valley team it aint even funny...

                          • Didn't bother me. Maybe they are better, I don't care. We beat them and that's far more important than impressing Rob.

Heard that too. I'm pretty sure I know who it was...was an athlete for WSU back in the '80's. Lutz was making a case for the SHOX to be ranked as hi as 12, no worse than 14.
