  • From the Bilas Index (http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-coll...e-basketball):

    29. Wichita State Shockers (Last Week: 50)

The Shockers are shooting 55 percent from 2-point territory, which is among the best marks in the nation. However, Wichita State does not shoot the ball well from deep. The Shockers are an excellent road team, having won 23 of their last 26 games away from Koch Arena. (The Shockers' players say that home practices are so hard that going on the road is a reprieve.)

He has Bluejays at 18 and the Redbirds at 59. Says that, "Last season, Creighton couldn't defend the hoop with a drawbridge and a moat. They have been much better in that regard this season."

It just occurred to me, maybe those are not numerals on GE's jersey - maybe they represent the new location of his "Berries" after this kick . . .

Went from 280 votes (23rd) last week, to 6 votes (not ranked) this week. I figured we'd fall, but that was quite a fall for one road loss on an SEC court. Apparently the whole country got to see this one on the tube and didn't like what they saw.

        • That could just be an indication we were on most of the ballots in the 23-25 spot, and that now we're on a few at 24-25 and most at 26. We could be on everyone's spot at 26 and receive no votes.

          • USA Today Coaches Poll: 32nd, 5 votes (from 26th, 88)
            AP: 32nd, 6 votes (from 23rd, 280)
            ESPN: 30th, 8 votes (from 24th, 48)
            RPI: 22

Below VCU (with 3 losses) in all polls. Still, this is basically what I expected. This is normal for a team like us. Voters had low expectations for us coming into the season, and it takes awhile to convince them that we are "for real."

WSU last week was receiving 56 votes last week, and only received 3 this week. The break down was

              3 at 15
              3 at 16
4 at 17 (Randy Rosetta dropped WSU to 23 this week)
              6 at 18
3 at 19 (Tim Perrell droped WSU to 24 this week)
              3 at 20
              4 at 21
8 at 22 (Blair Kerkoff dropped WSU to 24 this week)
              3 at 23
              14 at 24
              5 at 25

Steve Pivovar (Omaha) had WSU at 15 last week, how does he drop WSU completely off their ballot? In fact how does anybody with WSU above 20 drop WSU off their ballot?

              • I suspect watching the UT game could have turned some people off...especially those with an offensive mindset, like I suspect Pivovar would be.

That's awesome, thanks for the breakdown. I agree, dropping us off the ballot from top 20 is a little ridiculous. If Pivovar dropped us off because of our offensive ineptitude, then I hope he considers GTown and VT to be the worst teams in the country.

                  • It bothers me that Wichita loses to an sec team on the road and get dropped out yet sCUm can lose to Boise "who" state at home and stay in.

BJ didn't lose their ranking because they beat a good team shortly after their loss before the polls came out. Also, they have a player in SoW who has been garnering a ton of media attention.

                          • The way we played at TN in no represented a top25 Team. I could partially agree with dropping us off the ballots. We could not have beat a single other top25 team with our preformance at TN...Its early in the season, the only dissapointment at not being ranked is I have to click "all teams" on the ESPN scores instead of seeing us in the ranked list...

                                That puts us in 32nd.

                                Coaches have us at #34.

                                RPI has us at #14.
