Will be interesting to see Armstead handle the pressure. Actually it's all the other newbies I'm concerned with handling the pressure. Can't imagine Early, Wiggins, Baker or FVV have ever experienced what they're about to encounter.

Briante Weber set the all-time school steals record with 10 steals- in 18 minutes. He's a beast defensively. He led the country in steal percentage as a true freshman last year (7.0%) and that mark was the highest for any individual player in college basketball since the 2002-2003 season. His steal percentage was 31.3% last night, or once every 3 possessions.

The team record that was set last year was tied again last night (20 steals). We were the best in the country at it last year, and it doesn't look like we're letting up this year in that regard.

For those who want to check out the video highlights from our fan site along with some outtakes from the post-game presser, here's the link: http://www.vcuramnation.com/2012/11/...da-gulf-coast/

and here are the highlights from VCU Athletics:

Everybody looks good in highlights. Wait until you see our dunk competition posted after the game tonight.

In all seriousness though...that's about what I expect from VCU. I have them as a top 20 team in the country, and don't expect that to change throughout the season. This is a high quality, talented, athletic, deep, experienced and well coached team. Most of our guys don't know what they are in for but I have confidence that, at a minimum, they'll get better and learn from it.

Well, Wichita State has one game, tonight, to learn how to eliminate lazy passing and lazy cutting/screening like you see from inexperienced teams.. or else..

Talk on the VCU board about waving or throwing fake money when Carl is introduced. Many are saying don't do it, but they on not going to be nice to him.

We need to fine a way to get into the A-10. We could really learn to hate each other.

A lot of wahhing going on over there. You would think that would be going on the other way around with the fact that we have lost 2 toss-ups with them. I'd love to wipe em off their home floor to finish up the series because we all know Shaka won't schedule us again... (wahh)

And Cold is right. Their gym does look like a glorified high school's.

The funny thing is we should be the bitter ones, after the two last-second losses, not them. Their fan base has some slight issues.

Wow. The VCU board is pathetic. It's like they have no history.

Comparisons: (1) The new rich who expect everyone to bow down to them. (2) Indiana State fans after winning the MVC tourney.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Hmm, give us a year and see if he picks off VanVleet next year.

Are we gonna lose? Due to lack of experience, probably. But we have nothing TO lose. And that makes us dangerous for VCU this early in the year, and has me chompin' at the bit to see what happens.

I hope they do throw money and call Hall a traitor. He's a player I wouldn't want to fire up, but if they want to do it, fine by me.

I had a lot more respect for the VCU fanbase and program before I started reading their WSU thread about 24 hours ago.

Hmmm.. after watching that video I have a couple questions:

                                1) Is VCU an all black school? Every single one of your cheerleaders in the video were black.

                                2) While VCU is known to be a very pesky team (kind of like SIU-C a few years ago), and everybody in here knows I don't like that style of thug ball, your players in the video looked kind of mid-majorish in size. Are they really that small or does the video just make them look that way?

We are a very big team and your fans will see that the moment we hit the court. That could work for us or against us. Pesky, small teams, especially those that play like SIU-C a few years ago can really win a lot of David vs Goliath battles.
