I know it's not related to the MVC, but I think it's also noteworthy to mention that Emporia State played Tulsa and KU in exhibitions and have been led in scoring by none other than Heights grad/ESU frosh Terrence Moore.

Moore had 11 points against Tulsa (leading scorer for ESU) and 10 against KU (second-leading scorer) including a strong flush near the end of regulation. He also ripped KU guards twice and had a third steal off a tipped pass. He did all of it in less than half a game coming off the bench. As a City League guy and someone who has said for a long time that Moore should have been at least a low-Division I signee, I think he's showed his value in both games. Shouldn't be a Hornet at all. It should also be noted that Moore was the second-leading scorer at Heights last year ahead of Thurman.

Was not saying Green doesn't have some handles. That is kind of presupposed to an extent given he is a wing. Only pointed out Thurman's handles because he is a stretch 4 and many of those type of guys don't have handles.

Yes. We may have even offered at some point, however, prior to the fall signing period, Thurman was told in no uncertain terms that WSU would NOT be offering him a scholarship until the spring signing period. Shortly after that, Derail Green and Cleanthony Early signed up to be Shockers! Thurman verballed to MSU.

Thurman has a nice stroke and good offensive game, but in my opinion, he will be in way over his head as power forward. MSU and thurman will suffer from what i refer to as Benton's(Terrell) disease, I score 20+ but the dude i am guarding is gettin 30 and we lose. good luck with that math, and ds BEARS of SWOMO can become the shox of the 90's revisited. not good.

Yes, an offer. Also held offers from Iowa, Fresno State, Western Kentucky, Colorado State, Drake, and Nevada. Held interest from several high-majors (as a Plan B/late period signee type is my guess).

I beg to differ. Certainly not an MSU fan or even a Thurman backer, but he will be able to guard the 4 spot. Long and athletic enough at the Valley level. Will get abused by bangers for now, and probably needs about 20 more pounds, but he isn't a guy that is incapable of defending in the post.

Sure, they are reeling a little bit talentwise, but Scheer, Kirk, and Downing are not slouches in the Valley. That being said, Thurman is not their best player by any means. He will probably back up Drew Wilson at the 4 during the season, just as he did in the exhibition game.

I also don't like the Green/Thurman comparison. Thurman is a stretch 4/point-forward type with handles, vision, and a quick release. Green is a long, fairly athletic catch-and-shoot wing. Green will likely RS out of necessity, whereas Thurman (whose offers were both mid- and high-major level; higher than Green's) would probably have done so at WSU because of lack of need. To me, it's apples and oranges.
I'm not going to argue things about Thurman but Green played guard in high school, passes well, dribbles well and from what I saw in the inter squad doesn't have a slow release. I think the two are more comparable than you make them out to be.

Again, I didn't say Green didn't handle well or had a slow release. I simply said those things about Thurman because he is a stretch 4 and that's not a given. As a catch-and-shoot wing, you would expect Green to have some handles and definitely a fairly quick release. Was not saying that, because Thurman had one thing, Green didn't have it.

And again, they play different positions and are definitely different players. A point forward/stretch 4 type like Thurman is miles different than a long shooter on the wing like Green. By all accounts, Green has been labeled a wing and Thurman has been labeled a 4 or hybrid forward.

If you are trying to point out the difference between two individuals and list attributes for one then the natural thing to do is to assume contrast. If not suggesting Green didn't have said skills/abilities then why point them out for Thurman when trying to show apples and oranges?

Had you said Green and Thurman play different positions I probably wouldn't have even taken notice.

SIU was down to that bad Upper Iowa team with 4 minutes left in the game and went on a run to end it.

SIU is gonna be a major RPI drag on the conference again this year.

SIU has major injuries that are going to further drag that team down. Bradley is also horrible. Jury is out on how bad MSU will be.

Ouch. Not surprised though. I think he'll get it turned around but it's gonna take a couple years like it did with Turgeon.

                                UNI 69 - NSU 48.

UNI outscored NSU 26-6 over the last 7:45 of the 1st half. Over the remaining 32:15 UNI outscored NSU 43-42.

                                UNI did get outrebounded 35-33.
