Unless they had a redshirt year, the 2020/21 and 21/22 freshmen classes will be using up their eligibility in 24/25. Simple math says that means around 40% of the players will need to be replaced compared to a normal rate of about 25%. That could make the portal very competitive next year.
Mills was able to keep all 5 of his recruits that had more than 1 year of eligibility left. Hopefully, that says something about the culture that he and his staff are building. If the young players are patient and confident about their abilities and are willing to work, they will see that a whole lot of playing time is going to open up in 25/26.
WSU will have 3 returning players (Bell, Cortes & Joy) plus the 2 freshmen who have not redshirted since entering college. That might be a remedy for what some perceive as an excess of guards. Hopefully, one of the young players will break into the rotation.
