NIL for a basketball-only school of a town of our size should be somewhat of an advantage for us. (I actually think to a degree it has been in comparison to conference members)
If you’re expectations are to recruit and preform as well as the best non-P5 programs in the county (which I believe most on here have those expectations) it’s gonna be hard to do with the support we’ve gotten since 3G.
We have to match fan support from those types of schools. We are not. In fact you can put all those so called “peers” almost light years ahead of us in several categories.
Blame whoever. And there is plenty of blame to go around, including a heaping steaming pile on Marshall himself, but those are facts.
People here seem to care far less than I thought they did about Shocker basketball.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Pay 40 bucks for a ticket or watch on ESPN+. I don’t think the decision is hard for most folks.

So do a lot of others and groups, both previous and current administration. Ticket prices are definitely too high.
Dayton has 1 sweet 16 since the 80s and 1 tournament berth in that past 7 seasons. They had a paid attendance of 13.5K yesterday against 3-6 Lehigh out of the Patriot League.

I want to see how other schools fund their NIL. How much of the burden is put every day fans, and how much is carried by other avenues? NIL and the level it allows the coaches to recruit at is 100% on the fans. In fact, the way Cooz is recruiting for us, I would bet we are punching above our weight a bit already.
There is way too much apathy in the fan base. When guys like WuDrWu are only seeing the glass 1/3 empty there isn’t much hope for the future. There’s no excitement. I’m not sure any AD or coach would be able to bring back that themselves outside of HCGM or HCCJ. Shaus and Marshall set the bar too damn high for what our fans can afford today.

NIL was created to allow student athletes to earn money. The complaint was that there were too many restrictions in being an amateur athlete. It's turned into student athletes just wanting money handed to them. They don't want to have to do the side hustle for it, as far as I can tell. If companies aren't contacting them to do endorsements, maybe that should tell them something - they aren't in demand. Go work a camp in your hometown during the offseason for extra money, I don't care, just don't stand there with your hands out.

Tell me where I’m wrong.
The system is broke, not the fans. You say Marshall gets all of this blame. No, it starts with Boatturd. People were soured how that fiasco went down, the product dipped, the prices went up, and now we have a coach in place that’s just boring that probably will only hit a ceiling of 20 wins every year and an NIT road game at best.
WSU lost a lot of good will and benefit of the doubt on the last few years and it’s up to WSU to clean up the mess, not the fanbase shelling out tons of money with an unproven product.
Those are the FACTS.Deuces Valley.

Welp, Dayton must be doing something a bit better than asking prior to drop $100 for a basketball game against a mediocre opponent, right?
Dayton has stability. They’re also coming off a blowout win against UConn. We’re coming off one of our worst losses in program history against Florida.Deuces Valley.

If you’re asking me to choose between baby formula and a WSU basketball game, I hope you know what’s gonna win and not be put to shame for it.

I am sure if Mills misses the NCAA Tournament in each of his first six seasons we'll tout his "stability". Give me a break.
And to be clear, I agree 100% that boatwright deserves the most blame of anyone, that is not up for question.

I don't have to worry about baby food, but I did just pay my property taxes. I believe that left a semi-permanent pucker on my anal orifice. We all have to prioritize our needs and our wants. Watching a bunch of one-and-done players moved WSU basketball tickets fairly far down on my wants list. Cheap seats for Thunder games go for $8.
While I wanted to support Mills because there is no option for a few years, the man bores me to tears. Coach, DO SOMETHING! I have yet to see him come to the defense of a player on a questionable call. Show some emotion whether it's positive or negative. Make it look like you care, because it doesn't look lie you do.
