I realize 'Boone' is an OSU grad, however his hard-on for his alma mater is GINORMOUS.

This is so wrong on different levels. But mainly, if you want to buy the tickets, fine, just pass them out to those that can't afford them. He's got until the end of December to get that done. If they are OSU fans and they didn't buy the tickets, screw'em, they're not that good of fans.

Guess he doesn't want OSU losing to a "powerhouse".

If there is a "re-seating", they may get bumped due to a lack of cumulative points needed to hold on to those particular seats.

Anyway, that's the way I understand it from someone I know. If your friends say this isn't true and their parent's points got past on to them, let me know. The person who told me will definitely want to know that.
I think that is the way I described it - as long as they pay that level of SASO and seat cost they sit in the same seats.
If you take the high road, you won't find much traffic there . . .

No one will be there as the Oklahoma State football team will be in Dallas for their Bowl game the next day at noon. So New Year's Dallas or New Year's Stillwater? Tough choice.

Have you spent New Years in Stillwater?

Those that didn't so much care about that waited.

"Wichita's Team", Top 25, or whatever, this was going to happen. Only two ways to correct it. Don't do the discount and see how many buy at the last minute or improve the opposition (as far as the casual fan is concerned) so people will want to buy early forcing late comers to the rafters.
Oh, I agree with you. The discounts last year were not the smartest thing to do by the promoter. Once it happened, it set everything up for future games. However, I expected a bit more of a push by the Greatest Fanbase, considering the start and national pub has been created by this team compared to last year's team. That's the mind-boggling thing. When it becomes apparent that WSU fans will only show up for $8.50-discounted tickets at IBA, you can kiss goodbye any future games there and any potential advantages to scheduling and recruiting that would bring - something Marshall wants. I hope the $8.50 tickets are worth it.

No, never Stillwater. But I did have to spend New Year's once in Norwich. Probably not much difference.

                    • Here's my question because I'm just not sure how it works. Are the discounts offered by the promoter or by Dealsaver? Does Dealsaver buy a block of tickets from the promoter at a discount and then sell them to the public?
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

How can you get a good read on what this fanbase would due by bringing in UAB on Thanksgiving weekend and Southern Miss on the Christmas holiday weekend? Remember, those of us that post on SN and those that just lurk are some of the most rabid of Shocker fans and a fair number of all those live out of town. During the 90's you got a good idea of the heart of the fanbase. Average attendence was generally between 5,500 and 7,500. Beyond those numbers are the ones that you need to attract to make IBA a success. That's going to be tough during those weekends, against those teams, with this economy, almost regardless of what the Shockers are doing. And don't expect large numbers of that group to be early buyers when they expect (now rightfully so) discounted tickets to be available.

It is the free market at work. Unfortunately when only 4200 tickets were sold with only 2 weeks until game time, they had no choice but to offer discounts or take a chance on an embarrassing turnout.

I have to believe if they would have held their guns, most true Shocker fans would have broke down and bought last minute tickets at full price. They might not have had as a big a crowd but I betcha we would still get close to 10,000.

I am hoping with the discounting that we sell the place out. There is no excuse for not going (unless you are out of town or something like that) when you can get tickets for as cheap as $8.50 to $12 each.

                          • And actually considering the economy, holiday, and opponent the original prices were too high. $39 to $152 to not sit in a nose bleed section is pretty high.

Actually I just got to it. But you are right on. I agree with your assessment.

And I am beginning to think that the promoter knew he was going to have to give discounts, so that is why he overcharged for the lower bowl to start with. He wanted to make sure he could make enough off the lower bowl to cover the discounts.
