Cohen, Thompson and Smithson deserved 3rd years but Brown didn't. Only a troglodyte would think that was a smart move while not considering the serious ramifications of a misstep. Do you comprehend, cave dweller? Oh, wait...
Why don’t you go suck a Valley game off, you imbecile.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

I would also rather see contracts with a much lower base amount, and then very lucrative performance bonuses.
But now that kids can jump anytime anywhere without sitting out a year, I believe a coach only needs a 1 or 2 year contract as well. But I agree with your contract if they are long term.

I've been VERY critical of Mills obviously. But I couldn't get behind that move. Pulling the plug on Brown after 2 years was understandable but not ideal mainly because we didn't have a plan. Mills was a long shot hire, but at least had experience. Pulling the plug on Mills after 1.5 seasons only to replace him with a person that has only coached at ANY level for 1.5 years .. zero of those being a head coach would be program suicide. If he doesn't work out, we definitely wont get another good coach here for a long time.
If we pull the plug on Mills before year 3, it HAS to be a pre-determined experienced home run coach that an outsider can look at and be like "ok, that makes sense". Not a fire and pray, not a kick out and promote an assistant.

What I was suggesting is that both men keep their current contracts but allowing Acy to do the actual coaching for awhile. If it doesn't work out better - hard to imagine - then PM can step back in. If it did work out well PM could claim partial credit by claiming he realized he needed to step back and reevaluate his own coaching.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure an insignificant employee at a small company would be beyond insulted by that proposal, let alone someone who has the ego of a Division-1 college basketball coach."In God we trust, all others must bring data." - W. Edwards Deming
