This is not a transactional based foundation because that doesn't last. Oh and our student athletes like it around here because our surveys say so. So in summary, I think given all that we like where we're headed and will continue to evaluate...Go Shox!"
There would be at least three “at the end of the day” cliches thrown in there as well.
Get it right, man!

I will point out that section 20.1 of HCPM's agreement reads:
For purposes of this Agreement, the term “Cause” shall include any one or more of the following as determined by ICAA: (a) the refusal, failure, fraud, or dishonesty of Coach in any material respect to comply with the reasonable directives of the Director of Athletics or to perform the duties set forth in this Agreement
Appendix A outlines the duties which include:
As Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Coach’s duties and responsibilities include, without limitation:
1. Lead, supervise, evaluate, recruit, train, condition, discipline, educate, develop, promote, and coach the University's men's basketball team to compete successfully in the AAC and nationally.
It seems to me that HCPM has and is clearly failing to coach a team that is or can compete successfully in the AAC and nationally with next year looking even more questionable. No doubt HCPM would challenge this in court and I am not sure what Wichita State's chances to prevail would be if they terminated him for cause on this basis.
Coach Mills' employment contract can be terminated by mutual agreement of the parties. Perhaps ADKS should approach HCPM and let him now that he is not living up to the duties of his contract noted above and that he is considering terminating HCPM for cause. However, just to be gentlemanly about it WSU would agree to a $1 million buyout at the end of this season with no mitigation requirement.
Not sure how one could argue that Mills is coaching MBB to compete successfully in the AAC and nationally. Would anyone like to take a shot at that.
If am ADKS I am having my attorney's reviewing this and I would probably be aggressive in pursuing it. Unless the deep pocketed boosters step up in huge way, and at this point why would they, then what does he really have to lose.
Personally, I have zero confidence that things will be any better next year. It could easily be even worse than this year.
What does "compete successfully" mean? If it meant "win," why wasn't the word "win" put in the contract? So what does it mean to successfully compete? We've been competitive in several of our losses. The clause doesn't even specify that we need to be competitive in all of them. Just to compete successfully in the AAC. That could mean just one time.
I appreciate the spirit, but this is 100% a losing argument. Paul Loser Mills' contract is even worse for WSU than Brown's was. Had we waited until halfway through Brown's contract to let him go, we would have only owed him 50% of the remainder of his contract. For Mills? If we fire him halfway through (June 30, 2026), we still owe him 75% of the remainder.
This is just as much on Saal as it is everyone else. He let Paul Loser Mills pull the wool over him and sign him to this sweatheart contract that keeps this dumb loser employed for longer, or pays him a bigger parachute when the fraud is uncovered. What a rube. Kevin Sucker Saal and Paul Loser Mills are going to ruin this school. The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Paul Mills record with Max Abmas 84-42. Without Max Abmas 48-70.
I was underwhelmed with this hire but kept an open mind. It's clear now that he's not going to get the job done. Short of someone putting up about 10M for buyouts, and NIL, I don't think there's any good solution right now.

I’d say we’re in Scott Thompson territory. The funny thing is that we have better athletes than we had then but results are just as bad. That’s coaching. There’s no accountability for playing bad defense, probably because they haven’t been taught how to do it. The fundamentals on this team are just so bad, When’s the last time you saw Q do a hard post up? Never. He doesn’t know how. We don’t box out, we don’t get low and guard with our legs, hands up in faces. We make one handed passes, we dribble into double and triple teams and then force shots. There’s not enough players on our bench to replace guys when they play bad. It’s 100% coaching.Last edited by Dan; 2 hours ago.

As far as defense goes, these kids are seniors, shouldn’t have to be taught it’s about effort. Offensively they have to make shots, Washington has missed 13 shots from 3 feet or less in the last 3 games and are point guard runs with his head down like a 7 grader. Are so called star player has had several bad games in a row because he won’t pass. I know Zion and Joey have not impressed but got to give them a chance instead of Cortez and at some point you have to have Ballard,DeSants and Washington playing together on the front line.
