  • If the way he blames the players in public has carried over into practices and the locker room, that could be expected to result in poor on-curt performance. It's one thing to hold payers accountable and get on their butts when they mess up. It's quite another to blame them for losses. Especially when the players probably know that there's little chance of winning a game with the game plan they're being asked to run and the players on the roster's ability to succeed with that game plan.

The game plan obviously includes Bell driving into triple teams and putting up a prayer shot in the lane instead of drawing defenders and passing to the guy who's making 75% of his shots. Otherwise you'd think they would stop running that "play".
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

    • I find the Ballard usage rate to be a bit concerning but it is somewhat his fault. For example with Pohto, you could put the ball in his hands in the post and could finesse his way to a layup.

I feel like Ballard is awful with the ball in his hands and needing to create. He excels when the offense creates open looks for him. If his usage rate were to increase, I would expect his FG% to drop near 60-65%.

Our offense does tend to forget about him, but teams can pack in because we shoot 3s like Ben Simmons, what do you expect.

      • Of the typical starting five, how hard is it to figure out on the offensive side of the court, who should get the ball more and who should get less?

            • Took him 6 years at ORU to break 20 wins and I wouldn't consider him instrumental in the Baylor rebuild.

You dudes can ***** and raise all the hell you want, he's not going anywhere.

                Is he knowledgeable?
Yes he is. He knows the game and has other top level coaches that agree and support him.

Did he and his staff make mistakes regarding recruiting certain on roster players?
                Yup, sure did.

Will he get another chance to find the right personnel to try and turn things around?
                Oh yea.

Could it be a painful year or two before this possibly happens?
                Yes to that one too.

But he is the guy in charge now and ADKS isn't making any rash changes either in the near future.
                Message delivered and received.

                Get used to it.

                That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

                • This rebuild is so difficult that the program is in much worse shape than it was when he arrived.

That's one hell of an accomplishment.

                  • Shocker Nation is constantly told to remain patient while other programs with newer, less experienced and cheaper coaches (with less resources) are kicking our asses all up and down the schedule.

"Get Used to it" .. ie. get comfortable in last place in the league because our Coach and our AD don't know how to do their jobs.

                      • Is it really a "rebuild" when, in your second season, two out of your three best players are still ones who were brought in by the previous head coach?

Is it really a "rebuild" when your teams are worse than the previous head coach?

Is it really a "rebuild" when you ran off the best player from your first year as head coach?

Even ignoring the above, how is this tougher than he expected? Did he think this was going to be an easy job?

This is like a kid who doesn't know how to swim saying diving into the deep end of the pool was tougher than he expected.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

                        • THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A REBUILD at this level of college basketball. What does he even mean by that?! You will never, EVER see 3 or 4 year players and "develop" your program. We need a coach who's good enough to find a couple diamonds in the rough each year, coach his absolute ass off, and retain players 2 years occasionally. Mills is unquestionably NOT THAT GUY. Thats been proven already!

Is it really a rebuild when you have built one of the worst teams in school history and will have to replace 11-15 players next year?

                            • This program was not a full-on rebuild when HCPM came onboard. It was more of a relaunch. This is now a bottom AAC team. It wasn’t that way up until recently.
