I started to write out a long-winded post and realized that I wasn’t saying anything constructive and was just bitching for the purpose of bitching. So I will just say this.
For a multitude of reasons, my priorities have changed. WSU Athletics has to wear some of it. The overall state of college athletics is significantly at-fault. Hell, Yours Truly accepts some blame too. I probably have to reassess my level of give-a-damn fandom in relation to my investment.
But it will not work to guilt-trip me into going to games on a more regular basis. I will go to games as I can, which right now is not terribly often. If that makes me a lesser fan, then fine, I’m a lesser fan. If some in Shocker Nation wants to shame me for that, I have plenty of other options with my time and discretionary spending.78-65

If that is the SOLE reason for not attending the game. Then that is, by definition, fair weather.
If other parts of life take priority and get in the way of going to games, regardless of winning or losing....then that is different IMHO."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

But I will keep posting it because it is true, we are losing (have already lost a bit) of what made this program special. We kept MT in 06 and 3G all those years because of our support. Asses in seats.
And there are all kinds of reasons why. It is not WuShock 16's fault certainly. But it is something I think we all have to acknowledge and I will continue to point out, because I think it is important.
So when Mills makes two tournaments and bolts at the first chance, or we lose a big player to the portal, some of that is on thousands of individual choices to not care as much about this as the community consistently did in the 2000s and 2010s. That isn't a guilt trip, it is just a fact.

I don't like how the sports landscape has changed. Too much money and politics, however, sports has been engrained in me for seventy plus years. Was there for the opening game at the roundhouse and have attended so many exciting games. The only games I have missed were the two years I was away in the service. My dad took me and I took my kids. I have not missed an Intrust game yet. I don't get around as well as I used to but I am blessed to be able to take a grandson with me Saturday and soak it all in one more time.

"Fair weather fans" definition has changed in Wichita. "Inflation" hit our ticket prices a good number of years before "Inflation", "Climate/Engergy Inflation", and Joe Biden hit our country. If we were winning like in 2010-1017 (or so), I think people would think that the ROI was good, and paying $50.00 per game for the highest seats in Koch (which includes Friends U. etc.) would be acceptable. I think that with the advent of double digit inflation into the U.S. economy (for a variety of reasons), and the political uncertainty that exists, that kind of money is a heavy load for most middle class retirees, and other middle class Wichita workers, because inflation, and prices, on everything continues to go up, and most people don't know what the future holds so while they may have the funds right now to afford tickets, they are somewhat concerned about their family futures. After all, what is more important? Shocker basketball or paying attention to families.

While I understand your sentiment.
It's not about money if as you say, tickets will be purchased if the team is winning.
The point is, WSU fans historically have made the financial sacrifice to buy tickets and attend games even when the team wasn't good.

Personally, I have no desire to attend anything at IBA and sit in the upper level. That's just a personal preference for me. I'm definitely not spending $50 to watch us play South Dakota State.
For what it's worth, I spent $32 (with fees) to attend a first time ever event at IBA a few weeks ago and got about 4 hours of entertainment to see professionals at the top of their game. If I'm expected to pay $50 for a similar seat to a WSU game, they better be playing a big time opponent or at least one of the good regional teams that we sometimes get. And I might pay more than $50 for some of those, depending on who it might be. But for a Summit League school?
Section 124 is almost entirely available.
Section 125 has sold about half of the available.
Section 126 has sold maybe 20%
Section 101 hasn't sold a single seat.
Section 102 has sold a little over half.
Section 103 has sold about 75% (mid court bench side)
Section 104 has sold about half.
Section 105 is almost entirely available.
Section 106 is almost entirely available.
Section 107 has sold maybe 20%
Section 108 has sold out the very back row. Everything else is available.
Section 109 is almost entirely available (behind the basket)
Section 110 is almost entirely available (behind the basket)
Section 111 has sold 5 seats.
Section 112 has sold 8 seats.
Section 113 has sold about half.
Section 114 has sold maybe 20%
Section 115 has sold close to half.
Section 116 has sold about 75% (mid court opposite bench)
Section 117 has sold maybe 40%
Section 118 is almost entirely available.
Section 119 has sold maybe 15%
Section 120 has sold 8 seats.
Section 121 has sold maybe 15%
Sections 122 and 123 I'm guessing are reserved for students/band as they're not available.
Section 214 has sold about 80%
Section 215 has sold about 80%
Section 216 has sold about 75%
Section 217 has sold about 60%
Those are the only four sections in the upper bowl available for sale.
Definitely not a good showing as of now. I'm not sure how many seats that represents as I don't currently have the time to go through and count them all.
I'm not sure we get to 6k. Which I'm not sure why we would considering. We're barely getting 5k to CKA and this will be a weak home opponent with next to no name recognition for the average fan. Honestly, Richmond may have been the best opponent based on name/history and I'm still not sure how much better they might do.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

I originally had seats in 206, which I call my "poor mans club seats" since they are right next to all the boxes, and the section only has a few rows. I just got notice of being moved, and it looks like they put me at the top of 106, instead of in the nosebleed of the 200s on the other side. Glad to see the IBA box office made it right, otherwise I would have been at trading upper deck row 2 seats for row twenty something.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

As far as the financial part of it, I came to the realization that I was putting more towards some other kids’ college education (through SASO) than I was putting towards my own kids. I had a huge problem with that. Not anyone’s fault, per se, but I couldn’t continue to do that in good conscience.

Well, this is at least partially on me... was waiting til the last minute to buy tickets and now no upperbowl tix are available (probably closed) so the price just doubled. Woof.
EDIT: well, quite a bit more than double. If anyone has 3 for sale that won't run me $260 after fees please let me know.Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

Yea, I'm guessing the entire top is closed now .. guess i should be expecting an email with a ticket change.
EDIT: looks like they are actively making changes. Now some 15 dollar lower level end court tickets.

I do think WSU needs to come down on their prices some.
I kind of think this argument is a cop-out in some ways. Does it affect attendance? Yes. Does it affect it to the degree some want to argue it does?
