Can you define your definition of “a few elites’ and what was their response? I’m curious as to what the “elite” media, coaches, and college BB pundits had to say.

It is a mildly sarcastic/tongue in cheek reference to a small handful of people who, in addition to being unnamed members of this fine forum, are personal friends who, along with me, discuss various goings on both Shocker and not Shocker related, utilizing technology outside of, again, this fine forum.

These unnamed individuals/posters are as intelligent, connected and thoughtful as Shocker fans get.


Although on second thought, that might not be saying very much.



As for specifics, I don't like to speak for others, but suffice it to say so far I am the most pessimistic of the group.

Norfolk State - W - 6-1
Richmond - (I'd like to watch their game tonight before making a prediction} but since it's at home - W - 7-1
Missouri - L - 7-2
SDSU - W - 8-2
SIU - W - 9-2
KSU - L - 9-3

I think we'll be 9-4 going into conference play.

I think by the end of January we'll be around 11-10

End of February 14-15

Start of AAC tournament 15-16

I think 17 would be the ceiling and 13 is the floor.

I think you're giving the rest of the AAC a lot of credit; however, it would be pretty on-brand for the conference if some of these teams struggling in non-con became juggernauts in conference.

Lot of time to improve/grow as a team over the next few weeks.

I think too many don't give the rest of the conference enough credit.

I still think that Memphis, FAU, UAB, North Texas, and Tulane are all better than us. I think it's quite possible that Temple and ECU could be better than us. I'm confident we'll be better than UTSA and Tulsa. Probably better than SMU and Rice. Still not sure what to think about Charlotte and USF.

As I get to know how each of these teams looks as we move forward my thoughts may change. But I'm pretty sure before the season started I thought that best case was around 17 wins and worse case was around 9. The floor has risen but I don't think the ceiling has.

Right now it's still hard to think we'll do much in conference. I still think we're in the bottom half of the league. There are some teams that I think might be better than us that we could still knock off at home if things go well, but I'm not sure I'd put money on it.

@ USF - L (this is a road game we might win, but we've rarely played well in Tampa and I still don't know what to expect from them with their new coach)

Nothing against any other student athlete anywhere, but this is so refreshing it's difficult to put into words. What an amazing approach to his craft. There was a ton to like about Joy's first big minutes last night, none more likeable than his post game comments. Play like last night is going to make him a fan favorite in short order.

I knew he played a lot, but I didn't realize he came in at 15:39 and did not come out the rest of the half. Unreal.

You ought to get that looked at. I know the majority of the board doesn’t agree but I like this team. We have good size and chemistry. We do have some talent . The guys seem to be responding to the coaching so I don’t see any reason that we can’t continue to improve. Continue to work in Joy and Jacob to build some depth. Hopefully our OU transfer is eligible after this semester. I don’t see any reason we can’t end up in the top 3 in conference.

Top 3 in this league still won’t sniff us an at-large.
