    FINAL:
    UAB = 61
    UNT = 68

    Hmmm. Could it be that HCPM is waiting to name his staff because some are/were still involved in tourneys?

      Would be great for the league if he stays. Hopefully UNT has some deep pocketed oil tycoons.

        He’s already accepted the TTU job.

          ESPN - Florida Atlantic rewards coach Dusty May with long-term deal

          The school confirmed Thursday it has reached a long-term deal with May, who has led his team to a historic run to the Final Four at this year's NCAA tournament.

          May, a fifth-year coach, is currently in his second contract with the school. This is his first head-coaching role after assistant-coaching stints at the University of Florida and Louisiana Tech, among others.

          May has developed deep ties to the state of Florida. His oldest son, Jack, is a walk-on for the Gators' men's basketball team and his son Charlie plays for Central Florida. His youngest son is currently in high school.

          Earlier in the week, when asked if he intended to stay, May told ESPN that he was "very, very happy here [at FAU]" and that he "love[s] our players. I love this area and I love what I do every single day here."
          There aren't any open jobs right now that I would think would entice May to leave. Especially with his ties to Florida. The only job that could be considered a step up would be Utah State. If he keeps the team together they very well may be the favorites to win the AAC next year.

              Yeah, that was the rumor for awhile, and then UNT kept winning, so it was held off.

                Yeah, I would imagine we were one of the teams that contacted him via a search firm. Kudos to him for not worrying about that while he was still coaching.

                  Good idea to keep it on the hush hush. His players hopefully didn't hear the rumors, because with social media, secrets are so easy to keep. Although, maybe he just went ahead and told them.

                    Given the fact it was announced right after the game, as well as the promotion of his assistant, I'd say it's been worked out for awhile and the players probably knew. Just a guess.

                      It's comforting to me that UNT fans have been very supportive of Ross Hodge as the next HC for some time now. He has been groomed to take over the program.

                        I didn't know that.

                        Maybe, with the NIL, things have changed, but GM was consistently a coach who told suitors that they had to wait until after we were out of the tournament to talk to him. I'm not saying they weren't talking to his agent, but he refused to accept a job until after the season was over. For the people who hate him, GM had a lot of good qualities, and principles.

                          Him personally, yes. But I guarantee you his agent was putting in some hours in march and April.

                            Sure but there was never a "done" deal for him before he visited. I know after the year was over, he was playing both sides too. Maybe McCasland just wanted out of UNT this year, and was taking the best job no matter what, but from what has been said, he already accepted the job, and wasn't going to give UNT another opportunity.
