        • I looked through his game log like TrackSuit did, and wanted to break out his stats for games where he played more than 15 minutes, to try and compare him with players who get starter-type minutes. That amounted to 16 games, which I think is a good sample size. In those 16 games here are his averages:

          27.4 minutes
          8.4 points
          6.6 rebounds

Now, let's look at one of WSU's starters from last year who's averages were:

          26.8 minutes
          8.7 points
          5.7 rebounds

          That player is Kenny Pohto.

I know they aren't the same player, but it's pretty clear to me that Ridgnal probably should have been playing starter minutes at MSU all season. So I tried to see who Dana Ford was starting in his place, or why his minutes were either feast or famine.

From what I can tell, there was at least an 8-game stretch where Ridgnal started. In the games around that stretch it seems Ford started a 6'2 guard instead, I guess to try and play Bradley-esque small ball. That player averaged 9.9 on the season, and obviously traded rebounds for assists. At the end of that 8-game stretch, Ridgnal played 20 minutes and didn't score. He hit the bench after that, only playing a total of 8 minutes the next two games. Then started the next two games when their best player, Clay, didn't play.

Perusing the MSU board, it seems he may have been prone to the occasional technical foul. So either could be the reason he lost his starting spot. We also can't rule out that Ford didn't know what he had. And defense is a bit of an unknown.

I feel Ridgnal is a better player than some are giving him credit for. However, unless he's getting 15+ minutes per game, He may just be this year's version of Gus Okafor in terms of production.

Lots of prizes available out there. You just gotta keep pumping $$$$ into them until you snag one.

But some people say the system is rigged. It's almost like a game of cat and mouse.

                  • I suppose it is unlikely, but it's not impossible that Joy is more capable at this point than anticipated? That would be a nice surprise.

I've been waiting to weigh in until the temperature was toned down, and Royal has the most balanced POV on this new recruit. First of all, I think it's obvious that we weren't close to recruiting another PG so Mills looked at other positions of weakness which the PF (4) position is one of need for us too (especially if our Missou transfer, DeGray isn't eligible). Rignal is a grad transfer so he is only a 1 year rental.

Dalen Rignal had a very successful Junior College career under DeSalme at Cowley, who has said that Cowley's style of play under him is very similar to Paul Mills, so he thinks Rignal is a great fit at WSU. Rignal was a 3rd team AA at Cowley. Dalen is a face the basket 3 or 4 who can shoot it (3 pt. % is 37 and Free Throws are 84%), rebound it (12 rebounds p/g), and block shots (2 p/g) which are all Cowley College statistics, so maybe Mills saw a great fit for us at a position of need. His assists are low (1.0 p/g) which is a negative, but his turnovers are low too (1 p/g) which is a positive.

Here is his Juco bio page.

                      • For what it’s worth :

in his final Juco year he was a 1st team all American.

Notable on the 2nd team : Tylor Perry

                        • Mills has been positivie about Abidde in the press, but this signing might mean that another year for him is the best option.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

                          • Taking a total guess here. HCPM probably recruited him to ORU

I really think this it's because they know DeGray's chances of a waiver are extremely low.
