I believe that those funds DO NOT go directly to the athletes. That is what NIL is about.
A healthy athletic department has to sell out season tickets and get their saso dues so they can pay for the athletic department, facilities, scholarships, and cost of attendance, etc.
After all, we're just all farmers and factory workers. Way to know your audience KS. This town, of course, has those people (proudly). But, it also has premiere talent in medicine, business, and so much else. I found him insulting. And the people he insults are the very people he wants money from.
This is so dumb.
If you are a WSU fan then you heard Gregg Marshall say this EXACT same thing about 10,000 times. I remember his blue collar team for a blue collar town line so well it is ingrained in me. Saal literally just repeated it.
A ton of things are going wrong and have not been great. But there is no reason to mine out a controversy where there isn't one.

You don’t understand sarcasm very much, huh? It’s not so much that he said what he sad about “farmers”, it’s that he doesn’t understand the audience. Wichita is far more diversified than being just “blue collar”…HCGM knew that as well.

Well 3G sure spent a lot of time talking about how "blue collar" Wichita was to Jim Rome and other national media outlets during our runs, and I sure don't remember seeing anyone complain about it.

Different contexts. 3G had those conversations talking about how the Blue Collar workers appreciated his teams. Because his teams played hard, played tough. It wasn't talking down on blue collar, he was pointing out that his teams matched the blue collar fan base that work for everything. Those teams were winning BECAUSE of those traits
ADKS is trying to say we should ignore the lack of progress (or ignore the fact that we are getting worse) because we have a bunch of blue collar workers that should be used to things not going right at the start. HCPM's teams show none of the traits of the blue collar worker base. ADKS is ignoring that building a program over 5 years isn't a thing anymore when every player can easily leave every year.
The only thing similar between the two statements is they both said the words "Blue Collar" ... everything else is different. ADKS has done a lot of good so far IMO, but he dropped the ball the MBB hire and this interview was not a good look.

If you think he was "talking down" on blue collar workers then I took what he said quite differently then you did.
I pay for my season ticket and saso, That all they are going to get from me.
You (and any other common fan) are not being engaged for NIL because you’re not the target, They need people with deep pockets, not your pocket change and your mettling.
Oh so you haven't donated to NIL? You seem content on the traditional donation avenue - see season tickets and saso. That's obviously the financial base for funding the AD. But it's not going to buy the players we need.
As far as my pocket change and meddling in NIL affairs, I hope no one associated with the university or a supporter of WSU athletics has that mindset. If we had any competent leaders of collectives there are funds to be had by us peons. It's literally leaving money on the table.
Now let's say you're 100% correct that they're focusing all their efforts on deep pockets. I still expect baseline communication and transparency about those efforts. I'm not saying we need to know names but what the eff are they actually doing, how much money is going to the athletes vs. admin fees going to the pockets of those working for the collective. Finally, if they're putting all eggs in the deep pockets nest then I expect to see results at some point.

I donate to another NIL in addition to ours, I have kid who went to a P5 with college football that I have grown to like.
I think some on here are expecting too much on some things. I do not believe there is an NIL in the country that has put out exactly how much they have raised / how much each sport is getting.
WITH that being said... Armchair sure seems to leave A LOT to be desired. I have family members (LONGTIME STH) with some money that would like to donate - but do not because they don't understand it. There needs to be better communications 100-fold.
I like Saal. I am not convinced PM is terrible despite a terrible start.
However, he needs to get this together. I know it isn't really 100-percent under his thumb, but he still needs to make sure it is happening. This is why we fired DB.
Not having a tweet all season or any social media from an organization that is supposed to thrive off donations is 100% unacceptable. I know people would VOLUNTEER to run some stuff. I 100% would!!! It seems bad. It needs to be fixed. Otherwise idk if some of the other stuff we are bitching about will even matter.

If you can get half the current season ticket holder to donate just an extra 20 a month to NIL (equivalent to less than half the lowest SASO tier) its an extra ~500k in NIL funds. That's going to require a coordinated effort with the AD and the Collective. It will also require transparency like you said.
1. "They all have a lot of cash". There are years when interest payments alone are more than the gross revenue. Farm the land for 40 years and get it paid off, then sell the land, and THEN farmers have significant cash.
2. "Farmers are too dumb to realize they're being insulted". I doubt that Slingeril has any empirical evidence to back that statement up , such as the IQ tests or college grades of a statistical representation of the population. Without that, that statement is just generally derogatory and hateful speech aimed at anyone who doesn't reside in the hallowed demographic they reside in.
I am third generation in a farm family, all of whom are now essentially retired.
The ignorance, prejudice and hatred of some on SN is being quite clearly displayed.
When "farmers and blue collar workers" are taken as insulting terms, that's incredibly insulting to people who are typically more proud of their work, more willing to put in 60 - 100 hours a week to do what has to be done, and happier than someone sitting in a cube, or even a corner office with someone constantly holding their butt to the fire.
I've been in both those "business" environments and I spent the first 20+ years of my life on a farm.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
Nobody said all farmers have a lot of cash. But as someone who used to work in the banking industry I know for a fact that there are more farmers with a damn good life and financial security than a lot of people would realize.
Singeril didn't say anything about farmers being dumb. Than was Pin.
The insult went beyond just the reference to farmers and blue collar and had more to do with how things were said in regards to that. That has also been explained previously by those you're now mad at.

I've been to several U of Houston games. They advertise their NIL on the jumbotron and make announcements about if before the game and at halftime. They have QR codes on the jumbrotron you can scan while you look at it. It's not that difficult to put it in front of the public.
