The ladies on TSF are absolutely up in arms over this. The TSF mantra of "thou shalt not say anything that could possibly be considered negative" seems to have gone out the window over this issue. Lots of parents and former cheerleaders/dance squad members jumping into the conversation.
Lots of complaints about how hard they worked for heir scholarships and how little they get (funding) from the athletic department.
Scholarships? Hard work? Send them to one of Mills basketball practices. Better yet have them attend one of Marshall's practices. Funding from the athletic department? The athletic department pays for their trips to the contests they enter?
Then one chimed in with how they could spend so much more on cheer/dance if they weren't wasting their money paying former coaches. They're lucky there's still an athletic department to fund them after the mess BoatyBoatBoat left, and that we now have an athletic Director trying to work his way out of a huge financial hole.
Bigger pity party out there than when they heard Marshall may have been mean to Shaq. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Sheer ignorance. They have no clue in this era what it takes to run successful D1 athletic and basketball programs. Nor do they care to hear the unfiltered truth - no one is there to see anything other than a competitive basketball team. Sorry girls, we're going to have to ask you to relocate out of what little prime real estate we have to offer wealthy donors.

My favorite seats were directly behind the bench. You just see and here things you wouldn't otherwise. I like the seats I have now best of all. I LOVED the floor seats with no one in front of me for a variety of reasons, but in my younger days. I wouldn't want them now. I will say having the appearance of the spirit squad performing just for you can be a bonus.

Though if the "asking them to serve food to the premium seats" is actually true. That's definitely something to be upset about. I'm guessing that part isn't true

I think it's absolutely ridiculous myself. But I have a different perspective than most. I won't air it all out on here cause most here won't care so it's not worth it.
Oh and sorry, but the coach many of you love doesn't coach there anymore. Too bad for all you ODB's LMAO"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Cheer and dance has been a fixture of major school sports for a very long time. So I don't begrudge them for being upset at the changes. I also have to wonder how safe it is to do anything but stand and cheer where there's uneven concrete. That said, I think they'll be even more visible in the front of the student section than on the floor.
If they are being asked to deliver food, the cheer and dance programs should be compensated from the proceeds of those seat sales.
