I understand that the charges against him were dropped, but something here is not right. Beard was one of the hottest coaches in the nation, a major "get" for even a school like Texas, was doing pretty good at Texas, and Texas did not hesitate to fire him before charges were even filed.

Was listening to some folks analyze the Beard situation.

He will likely find employment at some point. If he doesn't, he can sue for wrongful termination because it would technically have harmed his career. However, in doing so, he opens himself up to discovery, even in a civil case, which could prove costly for him. I'd be interested to hear those more educated in the legal field than I.

Long story short, he will likely find a landing spot because he's a great coach. Maybe not at this point, but sooner rather than later.

It will not be at Wichita State, and if I were Kevin Saal, I would not entertain the idea. If it were five years after this incident and we had the same situation on our hands, perhaps, but not now.

UT is a very liberal school in an even more liberal city. Image is everything there. Their coaches are held to high standards not only on the field, but their personal life as well. Imagine if all of us could be fired from work and forced out of our career because of an accusation by someone in our personal life. Their financial status is the only thing that enables them to get top coaches. The money they pay these coaches is worth the risk of wrecking their careers. WSU can't afford to be so woke.

As painful as it might be, I'd be more inclined to take a money cheater (insert Dollar Bill here) type...it's bad but you are not maiming someone.

That would be a dumb lawsuit. Beard's relationship with UT begins and ends with the language of his contract with the school. My understanding is the contract allowed them to fire him "for cause" based on mere accusations. The school did not have to fire him, though. Something they saw made them do it. My question is what.

Charges dropped. He's said his actions were entirely self defense from the beginning. She has since stated that she was the instigator and he only defended himself.

I know some say she recanted her initial charge because of money. Some believe her initial allegations were because she was angry. Technically, either could be true and could be supported by other incidents elsewhere over time.

I'd be all for Saal reaching out and seeing if something could be done. He wouldn't be here long, because all he'd need is a few years of success to get him back on top of the coaching world. I'd gladly take that and then we're in a much better position to hire the next guy.

Someone said maybe in five years if we were looking to hire again. In five years, Beard will be back at a P5 school and getting paid more than we're going to offer. If you want to take a chance on Beard, it's now or never. From a coaching and recruiting standpoint, I don't think there will be an available option that would be better. If there is, I'd like to hear it.

If you care more about optics than success, then you're going to be completely against it. If you care about facts, you should be more open to it. Could there be some doubt on if he did it or not? Sure. But no charges, no convictions, and nobody involved complaining about either. Any possible negative from hiring him would last maybe a week and then be done with. I'll take a week of press that may be questioning things if it leads to a damn good coach who can propel this program back up where it belongs (Top 50).

It was all about optics. The AD hadn't seen anything that demanded him being fired and wanted to let things play out. The Chancellor overreacted based on what was actually known and gave into the outrage mob. So that's what he saw, the outrage mob on Twitter and such.
