  • Stutz 2012 NBA draft

Just noticed that ESPN had created a profile for Garrett Stutz on their draft big board.
They have him ranked as the 80th best prospect and 11th best center

If Paul Miller wasn't good enough for the NBA, Stutz doesn't stand a chance. Seriously, ISU was too physical for him.

Also he seemed like he absolutely dominated the past 3 games at that tourny he was in

That's within striking distance of moving into the bottom of the 2nd round on Draft Day.

Good for Garrett, here's hoping someone takes a flier on him.

Although Shockansas was a bit crude in his assessment, the overall concept of Garrett playing in the NBA is going to be an uphill battle. No, Paul Miller hasn't, and probably at this point won't make it to the NBA. I would compare Garrett's situation not to Miller, but to Cole Aldrich. Aldrich was a first round NBA draft pick, was shuttled back and forth between the NBA and the D-League, and isn't a factor for the OKC. If a talent like Aldrch is struggling to make it, Garrett has his work cut out for him. However, who knows, in 2-4 years with the right coaching, Garrett could make it. Regardless, he will make alot of money playing for pay somewhere.

You are welcome. Please feel free to add your own "worthless insider perspective". Do you really see Stutz in the NBA?

Hey, he moved up from 100 to 80 on the list. He's moving in the right direction.

GM has said in 4 or 5 years, and given the chance, he see's GS as an NBA talent. Makes sense and I can buy this. Unfortunately, the NBA has gone away from being a center dominated league. No doubt GS will put on more muscle and strength by the time he is 26 or 27, the only thing keeping him down is his athleticism. I'm hoping he can continue to develop.

I wouldn't put it passed Garrett to eventually find a spot in the NBA. He's a smart kid with a great work ethic and some fine offensive skills. He can and will improve. Time will tell

Yeah, and the NBA could use some charismatic, positive role model players to offset their negative image -- although I think the new commissioner is doing a much better job than commissioner's in times past at cleaning the NBA's reputation up. Not that any of this will help Garrett, because ultimately skeelz make deelz, but it would be nice to see some awesome role models breaking into the game. Go Garrett!
